Game 1 about to start:
Australia:
GS Gillbard
GA Roberts
WA McPherson
C Forcadilla
WD Nexhip
GD Punshon
GK ByronNew Zealand:
GS Levi
GA Matuku
WA Vercoe
C Hynes
WD Grimmer
GD Schuster
GK BartelsNZ currently struggling on attack and also struggling to work out how to stop Brodie Roberts. What a player.
Aust 14-4
1/4 time: Aus Men 16-8
Gillbard 11/12 (92%)
Roberts 5/6 (83%)Levi 8/9 (89%)
Matuku 0/1 (0%)Lots of turnovers. The score was on 14-7 for nearly 3 minutes as neither team could convert. Aust on top so far, but NZ fought back quite well after being down 14-3.
1/2 time: Aus Men 35-21
Gillbard 22/26 (85%)
Roberts 13/15 (87%)Levi 21/22 (95%)
Smith 0/1 (0%)
Matuku 0/1 (0%)NZ came roaring back into things early in the 2nd Q, to be only down by 5. But it didn’t last long. Forcadilla and Roberts again putting on a show.
Nikolic impressed me with his stint. Not much to his name on the stats but Levi is a tough assignment. It’s good to see young players getting an opportunity and stepping up.
Probably not Gillbard’s best day but it hardly matters when Roberts and Forcadilla are there. Superstars.
Does anyone know why Dravyn Lee-Tauroa isn’t playing?
3/4 time: Aus Men 54-32
Gillbard 33/39 (85%)
Roberts 18/20 (90%)
Lee 3/4 (75%)Levi 31/33 (94%)
Smith 1/2 (50%)
Matuku 0/1 (0%)
Powell 0/1 (0%)The Kelpies powering on, winning that Q 19-11 to open up a 22 goal lead. Can the Net Blacks can finish strongly?
capsule, with anyone who’s not here, there’s every chance it could be that they just couldn’t take time off work or couldn’t set aside the time to train with the team. A couple of the top kiwi players couldn’t come purely because they couldn’t get time off work.
Thanks Ian! Forgot to consider that.
Full time: Aus Men 76-41
Gillbard 35/41 (86%)
Roberts 18/20 (90%)
Lee 13/14 (93%)
Stechiwskyj 10/10 (100%)Levi 35/36 (97%)
Matuku 3/4 (75%)
Powell 2/4 (50%)
Smith 1/2 (50%)A really dominant win for Australia. NZ will be looking to bounce back in game two.
Game 2:
AUS
GS Gillbard
GA Roberts
WA Richardson
C Forcadilla
WD Nexhip
GD Byron
GK PunshonNZ
GS Levi
GA Matuku
WA Hynes
C Grimmer
WD Vercoe
GD Schuster
GK BartelsBrodie Roberts had a bad case of the yips early on (1/4) and as a result, NZ took a 6-2 lead, but now Roberts creates a turnover and the score is 6-5.
1/4 time: AUS 12-11
Gillbard 9/9 (100%)
Roberts 3/6 (50%)Levi 8/8 (100%)
Matuku 3/3 (100%)After that quick start by NZ, The Australians gradually fought back with 5 gains to 3. During the Q, Josh Byron did his own version of Layla Guscoth’s pole dancing.
Matt Russell is the WORST commentator… stop telling me about Brodie Roberts’ campervan business and let Dan talk about his beautiful sweep!
