Former Diamond Nat Medhurst predicts tight Constellation Cup, despite Silver Ferns’ struggles
I wish I was as optimistic as Nat Butler (Medhurst).
To quote Anna Stanley from Inside Netball she thinks the Ferns will be lucky to get within 10 without Nweke.
I think for us, it’s being prepared to make the changes, especially in defence when they need to happen. I thought Jury and Karaka got torched in that third test and I was wanting a change after 15 minutes.
Noels needs to balance letting a combination work through something and plugging the holes as needed.
I assume Walmsley will start at GS, be interesting how she deals with Bruce/Klau, and also if Ekenasio can continue her rich vein of form. Because it’s all on her shoulders at the moment..
I find Karaka very frustrating, every now and then she has a excellent game, but it’s followed by far to many horrible ones. Lazy player who gives away far to many contacts.
Find it very unnecessary for them to say “New Zealand raised, JLP” yet refer to Ekenasio as NZs captain, not mentioning she was Aus born and raised
Anyways! I’m expecting us to get dominated by Aus, but at the same time it wouldn’t surprise me if this series stays very close.
Even though this is a forced decision for DNT, I think Walmsley will gain so much from any court time she’ll receive. Once Nweke is cleared to go, it’s going to be a tricky juggling act on when to give Walmsley court time without compromising getting “the win”.
@mcleod I think our defensive foursome are all inconsistent.
IMO the Jury/Karaka and Watson/Burger combinations are the way to go, but we need to be quicker at making changes.
I’d like Noels to start with Watson and Burger against the Diamonds. We need to be fleet footed to even hope to match their middies and goalers and Neill and Glasgow shredded J & K in Test 3.
I also listened to the Quarter Time podcast and agree with Tamsin Greenway’s comments re Taurua and her appetite to stick around with the Ferns. There will be some hard the ahead as Noels/whoever rebuilds that team. Embedding a young midcourt, likely Ekenasio won’t go the full cycle and I can only see Jury and maybe Burger there in 2027.
Ferns fans we’ve got some pain coming our way ????
Yes TB, Ekenasio actually represented Australia and played longer here than Price played in NZ.

#SilverFerns coach Dame Noeline says Grace Nweke ahead of rehab schedule, might be able to get her out on court in Australia, definitely by the time the #ConstellationCup series hits NZ

Start Walmsley, throw Nweke on if needed, then Maia if desperate? Metuarau drops out of the 12?
Am a big Kate Burley fan, I hope she debuts.
