@Kerryn I think we could see that line-up especially in the second half of games. Start with Watson and Burger in the circle together, Heffernan in front of them and Souness in C before bringing Karaka into GD and moving everyone forward a spot with Souness going to the bench.
I donโt even think Fitzpatrick and Kersten will get a look-in for a match day 12.
Surely the intention will be to ease Jane back into it and get Karin court fit again, and then work out the midcourt puzzle – is Heff actually our starting C and can Toeava back up those two Constellation Cup games as well as reintroducing Crampton?
Veterans return as Silver Ferns name squad for Quad Series
I am starting to lose faith in DNT.
Claire Kersten is a very solid player, but I really donโt get her selection.IMO DNT is starting to make a โhabitโ of selecting or choosing wrong players and combinations.
CWGs semi, not starting Jury or Nweke. Your two strongest players ๐คทโโ๏ธ
The recent CC. Toeava was a massive surprise. I understood the teams were already announced, so no changes were going to happen unless there was an injury. But I was really disappointed that Poi (a natural C) and Souness (WA specialist), was not ran in their strongest positions.
I get that everything theyโre doing atm is all for WC, and I believe theyโll be doing all they can for gold. But I feel like DNT is not really being held accountable for some of her poor coaching selections in all these other games. In the post game interviews, they are so soft on her. If itโs the ALL BLACKS – they are calling for sackings!
@TB One would assume Kersten has gone away and worked on her fitness or whatever was required of her to get into this squad, i remember she was a solid player at the last quad series even gaining an MVP performance
To me Poi just didnt shine at the con cup games
Some of the com. games selections were a bit of a surprise to me too, but apart from Bailey Mes they all seemed to work. Even starting Jury and Nweke on the Jamaica game wouldnt of got us that win they were too strong, it might of narrowed the gap a bit if that.
Comparing DNT to the likes of Ian Foster is comparing oranges and apples really, netball doesnt have the following rugby does, Taurua has achieved lots of domestic’ success in NZ and in Australia, shes won a world cup before we can only have faith she will do it again!Yes – Kersten makes sense as a defensive C when paired with the very-much attacking WA of Toeava. Souness/Toeava may be too similar to work consistently, especially on defence.
I agree with TB, I think DNT has made some strange decisions in the last couple of years.
Isn’t Heffernan a defensive C?
So with Kersten you have two defensive C and three players who play Wd well plus Karaka who does a good job.
I would have liked to seen an attacking C in the mix over Kersten. Kersten great ANZ player not very good international player. sorry to all the Kersten fans, I think she is over-rated.
Kersten mustโve had an incredible trial to leapfrog Gordon, MRB and Poi.
Intrigued is all I will say.
No surprises in that Aussie squad though Parmenter is a bit stiff to miss out. She will be there in the future.
I like Wallam but I think Garbin and Koenen gives more variety so Iโm happy with that.
Umpires:
Gary Burgess
Joshua Bowring
Angela Armstrong-Lush
Bronwen Adams
Anso Kemp
Alison HarrisonIt appears that the England squad is the same as that chosen for the Jamaica series…
The countdown to the Quad Series is on, where the Origin Australian Diamonds will look to retain their crown.
