Umpires seem very hot on minor contact penalties tonight, particularly to left of screen.
30-29 to Vixens at half time.
Dwyer has 5 super shot; the other 3 goalers have one each.
Moloney more disciplined that quarter. Penalties are high for both teams; Weston and Parmenter the highest and the latter has a caution.
Great game brewing here! It was 30-29 to Vixens at half time. Statistically speaking, Vixens have the edge, but as might be expected, sharp shooting from Giants is keeping them in it. Sophie Dwyer has 5 super shots so far. It’s 33-33 now!
Looks fairly full to me? There is a lot on in Melbourne this weekend though, and a Sunday night game isn’t very convenient, so that might bring a few people away.
47 all at 3/4 time.
Interesting comment from Simone about the threat of super shots from Giants…..’goal on our own centre passes’ …Vixens are about 3 from 4 and Giants are 2 from 3….super shots are 5 to 8.
Surely not more controversy. Sophie Dwyer’s last goal in the 3rd Q was ruled as a one-pointer, but she seemed to be clearly in the super shot zone when she made the shot.
Vixens hold on to win it 62-57!
62 – 57 Vixens.
Gosh I thought Giants would win that with their Super Shoooters.
Great game. Vixens just had more composure at the end when it mattered. Giants didn’t score a single goal in the final power 5 period, while Vixens played it smart and put on 5 goals to take it out 62-57. POTM was Liz Watson with 21 assists and 4 pickups.
How many 2 point shots did Giants miss in those last 5 minutes. I can think of 2. Big impact on momentum.
In Pivot, Braz says “this is gonna be my last year of netball.” Not a huge shocker but still interesting as confirmation.
I love watching Centre Circle and Pivot.
I thought it was a good team effort by the Vixens, they didn’t really have any stand outs nor any weak links. That last five minutes was a textbook example of keeping composure, they could have dropped their heads when they were a few down but they played through it. Good game.
It was a bigger crowd than last week – all sections open and around 2/3 full.
