JR I totally agree! And that’s kinda my point.. they weren’t very clean or patient in attack and yet still got the win which is a great thing.
In recent years we would’ve lost that game by 10+ goals but as a team we stuck in the match and found a way to be on top at the final whistle.

@D-fencer I was wondering if the reason for Obst’s change in attitude is down to Tracey Neville – she’s always been known for clear thinking under pressure and making the changes count….could be?

Obst looks more comfortable coaching this year, and backs her own decisions. I think it’s due to the fact she has Neville for support.
As much as everyone loves to criticise her, she’s done an amazing job improving the thunderbirds, Cardwell was just that missing piece!

Also speaking of obst has anyone noticed she never takes the end of game coaches interview? She always passes it off to one of the players.

I know there’s talk of Glasgow being eligible for England, but based on pure current form I’d take her in the Diamonds over Garbin.

A commanding finish to the opening quarter from Lightning. And perhaps a change of tactics too. Having been burnt by not using the super shot last round, Steph Wood wasn’t mucking around there. 3/3 from 2 point range. 1/4 time: Lightning 21-12

Oh poor Steph, teary during The Last Post and now whacked in the eye. Stayed on court, tough as.

It appears that Steph Wood copped a stray elbow from Geva Mentor. Timeout was called. Looks like she’s okay to continue. Lightning 30-23

Wood and Koenen are just so nice to watch together. They are a perfect example of a GA/GS team that work for each other.

Garbin is not putting in a performance worthy of a diamonds call up on Thursday. 0/5! Magpies just being outplayed all over the court.

Will be interesting to see what Garbin does next year. Just is not and won’t ever be a GA and that is okay as she is a brilliant GS. She’d be better off going to Vixens to replace MJ when she retires as Nelson isn’t going anywhere or up to Giants if Harten retires from SSN as well.

On form you really can’t justify picking Garbin over either Wallam or Glasgow (who I would select) even if we know she would be played very differently for Diamonds.

Oh Collingwood, how they have fallen apart since the CP debacle. Not going to get easier next week as they have TBirds! Albeit Lightning have Fever which won’t be fun either but at least they are at home.

                              1/2 time: Lightning 41-27

The end to the 2nd Q looked a lot like the end to the 1st. The first power 5 went Lightning’s way 11-2 and in that quarter, it was 11-3!

Wood and Koenen are dominating, and getting great support from Miller & Scherian.

Garbin at GS for the Diamonds is very different to Garbin at GA for Magpies. Garbin was rubbish last season but really stood up for the Diamonds in the CC and Quad series.

I do agree Glasgow is very close to playing for the Diamonds though and she should pursue that.

Magpies mid court, including Braz needs to be held accountable. Poor pass selection from Braz and Jovic/Browne are way too lateral.
