I feel as if Belinda Reynolds is trialling strategies/techniques in preparation for Fever next week

Whatever happens I hope Garbin can find somewhere that will play her at GS. Whenever the commentators insist that having a Garbin/Singleton circle is a “moving circle” I get annoyed because it shouldn’t be! Garbin’s biggest strength is her hold and it annoys me so much that she isn’t used for it.

Collingwood need to change Jovic out of C. Even just swapping Browne and Jovic to change it up.

Why not try Ward at WD and Newton in GD? Newton hasn’t had much court time this year but has performed well in the past.

Karla Pretorius… she still has those reflexes. She gets a tip to one and then another turnover and another. The lead is 17 and it’s all falling apart for Collingwood really.

Ash Braz is just so far off her best this year. Her World Cup spot is surely seriously on the line

Nothing is really working for Magpies today unfortunately. Lightning is dominating. After a string of very close matches, this is certainly anything but.

                3/4 time: Lightning 56-39

Pretorius is back to her elusive best today, wonderful to watch. The lightning aren’t doing anything spectacular and are so solid all over the court- so hard to beat when they play like that.

Magpies experienced players are letting themselves down a little bit today.

Parmenter should be selected ahead over Brazill for Diamonds. Superior form and proven combination with Price who will be most likely be there.

Collingwood should bring Browne on at C and take Brazill off.

Steph Wood definitely hasn’t been the same player since copping that knock. She was killing it before then. Nevertheless, Lightning has this match basically wrapped up at 64-50 with 3 minutes left.

Magpies are winning this last quarter by 3 with 3 minutes to go.

                        Loving watching Pretorius.

I think the 15 goal win will put Lightning in the 4 on % over Vixens.

MVP Pretorius ….yes. So few penalties and getting lots of deflections and intercepts.

Newton did well when she came on. Collingwood need to explore this backline.

Nice percentage boost for Lightning. Still not sold on their midcourt so will be interesting to see how they go against Fever next week.

                              Full time: Lightning 65-50

Well, that last Q was very scrappy. Lightning only scored 9 goals, so Collingwood won the Q despite only scoring 11. MVP was Karla Pretorius. Seriously, this was like the Karla of 2018/2019! She was everywhere out there.

The Magpies always seem to have the ingredients but can’t quite put it together, for whatever reason. GA being the perennial issue but the midcourt wasn’t great today either. It’s not like they don’t have good players. I dunno.

I would go Parmy over Brazill for the WC too. But I think the selectors will go with Braz because she can cover C, and that’s something Parmy hasn’t had the opportunity to develop. Would love to see her there though. Price better be there, in my opinion she’s the most in-form C right now.

I agree D-fencr, the Magpies have these good players, international players. But can’t seem to put it together, and certainly not consistently. And that has happened for most of the SSN since it started.

Like a number of other commenters, I too would take Parmenter over Braz. She just seems to have a spark that Braz seems to be missing this year.
