Tayla Williams gives away so many turnovers- if she can cut that down she’ll be an unstoppable next-gen Diamond.
Clever tip off Dwan’s leg from Moore!Giants about to draw level again. Tbirds getting very messy in attack again.
1/2 time: Tbirds 31-28
Giants fought back and won that Q 15-13 after it looked like things were getting out of hand. The stats are pretty even. No one player standing out, but Horjus going well and Lauren Moore continuing her recent good form.
Timeout. 4 straight Giants goals to start the 3rd Q and Tania Obst isn’t happy. Giants 32-31
Put Petty on for Williams based on that commment.
What’s going on? All of a sudden, this is very messy. Neither team seems able to score! Giants 35-34
Cardwell has had a really sub-par game, I think they should have taken her off instead of Dwan. Would have been good to give her a moment to sit on the sideline and observe.
Great to see Moore being rewarded for her good form lately. She’s a much better GK than GD/WD, it’s a shame she isn’t a few centimetres taller.
3/4 time: Giants 41-40
Wow, it’s getting feisty!
Giants won that Q 13-9. Now comes the test for Tbirds. Can they respond like a premiership contender?
By the way, the head to head between these teams in SSN is 11-2 in Giants favour.
Are there any SSN head to heads in the Tbirds favour? If there was I’d be surprised.
What is it about the Giants that throws top teams off? Fever have struggled against them for years, Tbirds have forgotten how to feed and Vixens only had a very narrow win this year.
Please T’Birds – stop making this so difficult to watch.
This is all a bit scrappy and niggly. These teams are under pressure. Tbirds 49-48 with 4 minutes left
Austin often gets called for contact coming off the hold. Hopefully she can correct whatever the umpire is seeing in time.
Full time: Tbirds win 54-50
Giants had 2 super shot attempts late in the game but tremendous defence from Sterling and Garrett turned the ball over both times and Tbirds were able to play out time and hold on for the win. POTM is Georgie Horjus
Thunderbirds responded well. That is exactly the sort of game they would have lost in the past, but they dug deep. For Giants, that is the 7th match in a row for them that’s been decided by 5 goals or less, and they’ve only won two of them.
