Thunderbirds really pulled the rabbit out of the hat there! The attack end really failed to click for most of the game. They were saved by the Giants and their reliance on the super shot, and the corresponding Sterling rebounds.
Giants had 20 (yes TWENTY) super shot attempts and only scored with 5 of them in this game. Dwyer shot 3/10 and Harten 2/10, and there’s no doubt the pressure from the Adelaide defence created quite a lot of those misses.
Ha..shows the stoopid shot strategy can come back to bite you – hooray!
Alright. Very disappointing. I’ve deleted some posts in this thread from one part of the discussion which I really don’t like to do, especially as we don’t have nearly as many posters as we used to do! Personally, I’d like as many people as possible to post here. But that got out of hand when there was really no need for it at all. People can say things in the heat of the moment during a game when they probably shouldn’t. But that’s just one of those things. And there’s no need to take everything quite so seriously. It’s just a game, and this is just a netball forum.
Now, can we start again?
Disappointing for many reasons Ian.
I’d suggest looking back upon this forum and maybe trying to find the root cause.
I used to thoroughly enjoy the healthy back and forth between posters on here but it seems now as soon as you have a differing opinion from one person in particular you get attacked for it and subsequently everything gets taken down…
I guess you’ve just lost another poster.
All the best. Thanks Ian, remember this is inclusion round 😉 (that was so cringy lol)
Back onto the netball, Jovic had a cracker- 0 turnovers in 60 minutes of netball! Also I do want to praise Petty for her composure when she’s brought in during a tense part of the game. I also thought RBD killed it today, even though Garbin was having a better day there was still always a lot of pressure on her.I haven’t looked at stats but I see Horjus got MVP. Does that mean most of those missed long bombs didn’t come from her or were they put down to bad hands from Cardwell? Or were they not as numerous as Cath Cox made out in comms?
Loving seeing thunderbirds having success and love that defensive trio.
I’m also loving Wallam- I’m so glad I’m not a selector. I don’t know how I’d go with selecting for the comm games 15!!!
Horjus had 2 turnovers, Cardwell 6.
The Garbin vs Wallam selection is very tough. Wallam is a bit one-dimensional and was beaten by Fudoju in her international matches. On the other hand Garbin was great against the Ferns and has more variety. Wallam is more dominant and is in far better form, but hasn’t built strong connections with Wood or Austin. I feel like at this stage Garbin probably gets the spot but it’s a tough call.
I would really like to see Garrett in the Diamonds for NWC. Neither Watson nor Aryang are big ball winners and I think the Diamonds need a defensive change-up that isn’t moving Bruce to GD and Klau back at GK. She’s in far better form than both of them in SSN and has performed well against Housby (and Glasgow) who is (are) the only international GA(s) in SSN.
Ooohh what did I miss? I like a bit of drama 😂
Continuing on the Wallam v Garbin discussion. I do think Garbin has proven her worth at international level. Though she’s not in best form atm, I feel all this running around at GA will make her a stronger GS for Diamonds.
In saying that, I do think Jane Watson will match up on her really well. I don’t think they’ve played against each other yet? Garbin had it over both Jury and Karaka (when she got moved to GK).
Can’t say I do TB! I am leaning towards Garbin too as long as her mental state is strong and she can keep her confidence. Wallam is in great form but seems to struggle against international GKs whereas Garbin seems to thrive against anybody who hasn’t played against her in GA. So glad I’m not a selector!
I would love Collingwood to play her in GS for a solid bit of time. Just give her a quarter or two, please. I seriously don’t think they’ll lose out having her there instead of Nelson.
In terms of international GKs, Wallam did very well against Geva yesterday. But whether she’d even have to play Geva at the World Cup is another question.

You’re right D-fencr, she’s come a long way since a horror outing against Geva last year. Can’t remember how she went against Fadoju last year in the England series- stats don’t say a whole lot but it looks like they both did pretty well?
Eddy already in the thick of the action with an intercept. Vixens lead 10-6 after 7 minutes. Now they’ve gained possession again through Weston.
