Fever have been winning courtesy of their strong starts lately- have Vixens found the way to shut them down?
Dan Ryan calls a timeout just before we get to the first power play period. Vixens travelling well, up 13-9 and the Austin/Kumwenda combo especially looking strong.
1/4 time: Vixens 18-16
Great game so far. Sasha Glasgow landed a couple of super shots to narrow the gap, but in general, Vixens have had the better of the first Q. Mwai Kumwenda with more goals than Fowler currently.
Did Lewis kick the ball when she was on the ground after her flying intercept/deflection?
So Anstiss gets a caution but Weston didn’t the previous quarter (same umpire)
Kate Moloney having a great game. She’s pulled off a big intercept from Fowler and Vixens now lead 29-26 as Dan Ryan calls another timeout.
Fever timeout changes- Simmons off, Anstiss in C, Jenner WD. Good changes for mine, Simmons was becoming expensive and was often in the same space as ATN. Also brings extra defensive pressure that is desperately needed.
Vixens are solid all over the court with only 2 turnovers so far (or maybe 3- Champion Data is being odd).Fever keeping in touch with supershots so far this game.
1/2 time: Vixens 37-35
Mwai Kumwenda nailed a super shot right on halftime to maintain Vixens’ lead of 2 goals. Such great action in this one. A real high quality game. Vixens have given up only 4 turnovers to half time compared to Fever’s 8.
Also, how good is it to see young players like Liv Lewis and Lauren Moore rewarded with court time for good performances.
It feels like Fever have been terrible on transition today- in reality they have an 86% gain to goal rate but to me it feels like about 70.
Changes for Swifts vs Lightning. Allie Smith out with a foot niggle, Lili Gorman-Brown in. Tragically Charlie Bell’s father has passed away, Nat Sligar is in. And obviously Ava Black in for Shannon Eagland.

Well, this game has it all, including a bit more confusion over the centre passes. I think we’re right.
Fever won that Q 19-16 and go into the last Q leading 54-53. What a battle. It’s Sasha Glasgow’s super shots that have them in front!
Kiera Austin is having a ripper game for Vixens. Now she scores the goal that puts Vixens in front with 6 minutes left. This game is a cracker.
