Even though O’Shannassy isn’t necessarily getting the intercepts when she goes for a fly, it’s so good to see her come out with two hands- I feel like some defenders aren’t doing that enough, I’ve especially noticed it with Bruce.

Just when you think it might be getting away from Lightning, the arm of Karla Pretorius gets in the way and the lead is back to 4.

Approaching the power play. Remember, the record number of super shots is 10. Steph Wood may have to break that.

Incredible what pressure does. Wood misses her first super shot attempt for the game when it was really needed. And now another. That looks like the game.

Maddy Proud with no turnovers after the first quarter, impressive. Swifts’ defence have absolutely kicked into gear after a slow start to the season. Steph Wood will be beating herself up but pressure does things to people.

              Full time: Swifts win 67-63!

A good win for Swifts. Just a bit too good for Lightning. POTM Sarah Klau

A bit ironic that the top four teams have used Inclusion Round to just about exclude the bottom four teams from finals calculations.

Swifts are flying. Going to be a good game against Fever next week!

6 rounds to go, and the top 4 are almost locked in, not really a great look for the comp if it wants to expand.

The Top 4 are not at all looked in. The Lightning are two wins from the Top 4, Magpies at the bottom of the ladder are only 3 wins out. Far more even than ANZP has been this season.

I’d be pretty confident if I supported one of those top 4.

In NZ, Steel hasn’t won a game, but all other 5 teams have been competitive with each other and close.

The ANZ is a 6 team comp with 1 poor team this year. It could come down to the last game for that 3rd spot.
The SSN is now into it’s 7th year, and yet the Magpies still struggle, they made the playoffs once 4 years ago, they attract small crowds in a 10,500 seat venue, surely that is a massive cost to the AFL run club.
Giants seem to have fallen of the pace.

Feel for Garbin… she is a great GS and showed us that in the Diamonds environment but doesn’t get that opportunity in the Magpies. She needs to be playing GS in the domestic level to improve but can’t see it happening unless she moves clubs due to a current GS retiring. Perhaps in the future… Giants for Harten?

I think the comp this year is the best shape it’s been in ages. The bottom four could win against any of the top four and it wouldn’t surprise me that much. How many games have we had decided by less than 5 goals? A lot!

Giants haven’t fallen off the pace. They have nearly won several games this season and the ladder could look totally different if they had. And they are the only team to have beaten the current ladder leaders.

Magpies have underperformed (again) but they easily beat the Swifts and do have the personnel to improve. Their GA position seems somehow cursed!

Firebirds are a young team and have been getting better and better. I’d argue they have performed above expectations.

Lightning have been a bit unlucky with injuries (three ACLs so far) and have lost a few close games too.
