Which player are you referring to Schmeetle?

Ekenasio? She is still brilliant. Just needs support. Obviously Nweke will come back into it.

Samason is a star. Other than Nweke I don’t think there is a NZ shooter I’d select ahead of her.

A Ekenasio – Samason combination would be amazing and in complete contrast to Ekenasio’s combination with Nweke which would provide a change up for them.

@Silverferns1 – Yes please! MRB made a difference when she came on and ekenasio is the only shooter actually keen to turn and shoot instead of passing it in and out of the circle . I agree with whoever posted that the NZ game is old and has not kept
Up with the international evolution of netball . I wouldn’t have thought that previously but after watching the World Cup and the game the other night, I do think so. Other countries have moved, adapted and evolved but we don’t seem to have as we are getting outplayed again and again.

That scoreline certainly flatters the Ferns – as an England fan I always hoped they’d win, especially after all the badmouthing from NNZ (where IS the CEO to apologise btw?) but I never hoped for such a convincing display. Joseph showed all the flair and speed she’s demonstrated for years in the NSL, and the defensive backline was showing flashes of brilliance. So much for the “B team” label – it was just what the doctor ordered. And in SDL and Glasgow we have two strong shooters to back up Cardwell and Housby: we like!

                Great article.

Like Willering said, this next game will show how far (or near) the SF are off the international standard.

Last years Ferns should have won the Con cup, (piss poor selections blew that chance)
This year in January beat SA by 19, England by 9, 2 close losses (could have won both) to Diamonds.
WC a disaster, then lose game 1 to England.
The ANZ is not the problem, it’s the coach and the selectors.

@mcleod – I am not trying to take the heat off the coaches and selectors, but your post highlights the lack of depth in NZ and how the cause of that needs to be addressed.

I say that because based on that record over the past 18m – 2 years, Nweke was the player that was keeping NZ in it and they have fallen a part since her injury.

2020, with No Langman, Falou or Kopua they won all 4 games in the Nations Cup, 2021 they Win the Con cup. Wilson played every minute of every game shooting at about 94%, Poi at C, Winders at WD, both those 2 players tossed aside like some unwanted Christmas present, Noels had everything going for her, but has failed so badly.

                                I 100% agree @Mcleod.
I still haven’t seen this game yet, going to watch it before the 2nd game tonight.
