Exactly the starting line-up I would have chosen for the Diamonds. Hopefully Garrett comes on for Impact, and wouldn’t mind seeing Dwyer paired with Koenen in a moving circle.

I’m pretty happy with that diamonds starting 7. Gives players who’ve had limited court time the opportunity to build into the game and work on combinations.

Watson and Bruce being rested. I’m pleasantly surprised.

South Africa missing quite a few players. Has Sigi Burger made herself unavailable? Because surely with both Potgeiter and Van Der Berg injured she would have been very handy!

              Where is Griesel?

                1/4 time: AUS 17-9

                Garbin 12/12 (100%)
                Dwyer 5/6 (83%)

                Venter 6/7 (86%)
                Taljaard 3/4 (75%)

The Diamonds defence is working beautifully (7 gains already!), and then the rest of the team is capitalising on their gains. The Proteas are being heavily penalised so far.

Some lazy errors but overall a good start from the Diamonds. Dwyer’s put some excellent balls into Garbin. Her playmaking has been good. The Hadley/Price combination needs a bit of time but I really like what I’m seeing, very well balanced. Hadley is an underrated WA.

Klau and Aryang are combining very nicely.

I agree, we haven’t seen that defensive combo much but it’s so disciplined and rangy! Very enjoyable to watch.
Loving the balls going into Garbin as well.

Australia probably being a bit lazy with the ball, too many unforced turnovers. Sounds like it’s a bit hot and there’s some new combos, but I’d hope they could be a bit sharper.

I’ve been quite impressed with Price in that first half, especially in her attacking movement. Turnovers are a bit high, but I think that’s new combinations still working at being solidified.

I think we’ll see Wallam at some point this half.

                            1/2 time: AUS 31-21

                            Garbin 23/25 (92%)
                            Dwyer 8/11 (73%)

                            Venter 18/20 (90%)
                            Taljaard 3/6 (50%)

All of a sudden it’s turnover city. Neither team can maintain possession it seems, but the Diamonds are making a slightly better fist of it. Proteas 15 turnovers so far.

Messy second quarter from the Diamonds. I think they’re getting a bit casual with all the space.

So happy to see Garrett on! So well-deserved.

Matilda Garrett is on for her test debut, replacing Aryang. Lefebre Rademan also comes on for SA, replacing Taljaard.

Aus leads 37-27 after 6 minutes third Q.

Rolene Streutker is also on for her test debut, replace Venter at GS for the Proteas.

                                  AUS 45-31
