The Jamaican midcourt started well, but Dixon-Rochester is on restricted minutes, so she couldn’t play the whole game, and the others seemed to run out of puff and made really silly mistakes. Jamaica just fell apart in the last Q, and England capitalised on every mistake. It was one of those rare times when everything just went wrong for one team and everything went right for the other.
I think at one stage in the 2nd Q it was Jamaica 28-20, so from that point on, it was 53-24 to England.
Alrighty then it makes a bit more sense but still
lol
Thanks for the replies

So good to see the England team being allowed to run out a game without a myriad of changes – and those which were made had an impact. Looking forward to see what Harvey can do with Fadoju longer term – Funmi is wasted at GK, but at GD can be explosive and disruptive. Personally I’d prefer Nat over Chelsea, because she adds more pace, but it gives a different dynamic for defences to look at. Good to see Jo and Helen back to form (Helen was a totally different player from Birmingham, I thought) – interesting conundrum for Jess T will be when Ellie C is back to full fitness. Who does she pick?
For me, the Jamaica team was a huge disappointment after their discipline and focus at CWG: does this mean they HAVE to have Rob Wright with them to keep them in line? Certainly the team went back to all their old ways when the pressure started to mount – no wonder Jhaniele looked so down at the end. No doubt they will regroup and come back hard on Saturday, but have they got enough in the tank to be able to competitive for all four quarters?
The margin was only 2 at 3/4 time and people were saying it was still anyone’s game, but I could tell that Jamaica had gone right off the boil. That last Q scoreline was a surprise though!
How about the England shooting stats… 73/76 at 96%!
@Ian totally agree – it was the Harten and Housby of CWG Gold Coast and wasn’t it wonderful to watch? The speed of ball movement between them and Nat was great to watch, and it didn’t seem to matter if it was Clarke or Allison was at C. Tchine fitted in nicely too – if Fisher DOES come back, and when Cardwell’s fully fit, what an embarrassment of riches in the shooting circle (something which has NEVER been said about England!).

Helen Housby went down with two Jamaican defenders in an accidental clash at the centre pass. Looks okay now but she was a bit proppy for a while. Eng 18-12 at 1/4 time.
19-9 quarter to Jamaica and they propel into the lead by 4! Strong defensive quarter.
Second quarter was 19-9 to Jamaica! Their defence picking up some good ball and Roses making too many mistakes. Metcalf replaced Pitman late in the Qtr.
1/2 time: Jamaica 31-27
