So Rhinos have got FOUR imports. 2 of them just happen to have British passports or whatever, so it’s allowed. But seriously, they may as well change the rules. It’s crazy.
We caught up with our new signing Nicola Smith in her home in South Africa to talk about her move to the UK to play in @NetballSL

So rhinos have two import shooters? So one will have to be on the bench whilst the other plays? Is that how their rules work?
Maybe one of the shooters has a UK passport?
The rules with the VNSL is that if a player was born in the UK or have a parent/grandparent born in the UK or holds British Citizenship, you are not counted as an import.
Bird does not count as an import because her Mum’s an English born.
McDonald does not count as an import because she was born in the UK.
The imports for the Rhino’s are the two recently signed South Africans.
Under the rules, Ellie Bird and Elle McDonald don’t count as “imports”. So the shooting pair will likely be van der Berg (SA) and Bird (NZ).
Rhinos have more non-English than English players in their top 12, as well as a kiwi coach!
