GD Toutaiolepo
GK IongiGS Rusivakula
GA Rauluni
WA Lutua
C Nauqe
WD Tawake
GD Bolakoro
GK Nawai-CaucauPoor T&T really struggling but that’s not a huge shock. I think their WD is doing a nice job stifling Crampton’s movement which is one positive for them.
T & T really struggling without Wallace in attack (they need a strong target)and no one to punch through the zone.
Great game going on between Tonga and Fiji, Fiji must be pleased with how they have started. Get the feeling Tonga’s defensive pressure might push them ahead as the game goes on.
Did get a chuckle out of the commentators referring to Briony Akle as the coach of the “new south west” swifts.
1/4 time:
New Zealand 23 v Trinidad & Tobago 2
(T&T already with 15 turnovers!)Tonga 11 v Fiji 16
(Great start from Fiji against higher-ranked opponents)Rauluni in GA for Fiji has some wicked cut and drives across the circle, loving watching her play.
Veve’s hands are in everything for Tonga, and Gerrard is still very effective.
1/2 time:
New Zealand 43 v Trinidad & Tobago 11
(A much improved 2nd Q from T&T)Tonga 26 v Fiji 28
(Tonga fought back in the 2nd Q, but Fiji still leads a very competitive game)Dame Noels actually did it! Jury is into WD and carefully checking where her toes are on circle edge 😂
Cath T hasn’t lost any of her attitude playing for Tonga!
Tonga has hit the lead in the 3rd quarter. But it’s a tight game. Only one goal in it.
For Tonga, Cat Tuivaiti is on court, 16 years after representing Samoa at the 2007 NWC. She joins Mo’onia Gerrard who is also playing a World Cup for a second nation.
Rauluni used to play for Mendi Rays in the Queensland State League, but the team went under this year. So many amazing players to watch in the Tonga/Fiji game.
