@thunder123, surely they could look to loosen rules around imports if players play for Tonga, Samoa etc. maybe something similar to rugby league where they have tier 1 and 2 nations. That has certainly strengthened Samoa and Tonga there. Better for the game overall.
1/4 time: South Africa 11 v Uganda 12
van der Berg 7/7 (100%)
Taljaard 4/5 (80%)Cholhok 5/6 (83%)
Nassanga 7/10 (70%)Another tight contest. Quite a lot of mistakes so far – 8 turnovers each. Nalwanja has 3 gains for Uganda at WD.
Kumwenda confirmed she won’t be at the next WC in the post-match interview š but that she would like to continue playing with Vixens next year if she gets a contract
I think MJ is 34. So not surprising itās her last WC. How wonderful she got to play in Africa and some of her family and husband could travel to watch.
1/2 time: South Africa 23 v Uganda 23
van der Berg 17/19 (89%)
Taljaard 6/8 (75%)Cholhok 13/14 (93%)
Nassanga 10/14 (71%)Here we go again. Nothing between the teams. Uganda held a slim advantage for most of the Q before SA scored the last 2.
3/4 time: South Africa 37 v Uganda 39
van der Berg 29/34 (85%)
Taljaard 8/10 (80%)Cholhok 23/25 (92%)
Eyaru 6/6 (100%)Looks like we’ve got ourselves another nailbiter! Uganda with the lead at the moment, but SA is right in this. Anyone’s game.
I’d defy anyone to look at that hit that Izette Griesel took and talk about this as a non-contact sport.
We’re locked up at 40-40 with 10 minutes left.
Full time: Uganda 49 v South Africa 47
Cholhok 29/32 (91%)
Eyaru 10/10 (100%)
Nassanga 10/14 (71%)van der Berg 36/43 (84%)
Taljaard 11/13 (85%)Wow, the SA/Uganda rivalry looks like the SA/Malawi rivalry of 10-15 years ago. MVP: Mary Cholhok
This is incredible from Uganda! They upset SA in Birmingham, they lost 4 players from that starting 7 due to injury, but they’ve somehow come back and upset SA again and this time on their home court! What a result.
Amazing result for Uganda, they’ve had to deal with a few personnel changes during the tournament and I really thought this was one of the strongest SA lineups in a few years,
What’s happening courtside? Looks like somebody (maybe Baagala?) has collapsed just before the huddle and got carried off the court by members of both teams.Wow well done Uganda. Considerable and unexpected depth. Imagine how good they could be with funding and experienced coaching mentors. Whilst I didnāt necessarily agree with him I found the coach refreshing in his sideline interviews.
Missed opportunity for SA. Seriously give the ball to VDB. She is there and getting frustrated. Let the ball go. Donāt worry Elmere you could come play with Queen Lizzie, sheād give you the ball before you know you are ready
Strydom has been revolutionary. Hopefully she plays well for Steel. Wonder what is next for Van Der Merwe? Limited court time here bug probably back to UK next year?
Uganda utilised the reserves to their advantage I sense!!! Good on them I say !
Ugandaās Margaret Baagala was hospitalised with malaria during tournament, but was still able to play through the final. Takondwa Lwazi, who has had an amazing tournament, has reportedly just announced her retirement.

van der Berg… there is a bit of Irene about that shooting style.
There was way to ouch whistle in the Uga V SA game. Players couldnāt find a flow due to the consistent stopping.
Was Baagala C Uganda the one who collapsed? She came into the World Cup battling malaria. I hope sheās okay.
It was smart of Norma to play the youngsters to get them exposure on the world stage.
Van der berg and Talijaard will most likely get contracts in the SSN from their outstanding performance. And she gets carried off as the final whistle is blown ????
She put her body on the line for her team, playing through illness to secure the result for the She Cranes.
Really hope she's okay ???????? https://t.co/LVClL56Eyy
