I can’t wait for the next episode of Inside Netball either! Will be very interesting to hear the comments.
I don’t think Kate Heffernan was mid-courter of the tournament but she is young will continue to grow.
NZ needs to have players playing in the Suncorp, look how much England and Jamaica have improved. We would be cutting off our nose to spite our face to just be ok with sitting back and playing in the NZ comp. Pretty sure most Nz fans don’t want to keep seeing Nz at 4th in the world endlessly .
Will be interesting to hear feedback and reflections from Netball NZ after this. It’s been great having so much netball to watch, just a shame on how NZ finished up in the end

Nweke would have a made a massive difference, there’s no denying that.

The coach and selectors have got to take ownership of this. They didn’t do a good job. We have amazing players, IMO the right ones were not selected.

The last three Netball World Cups (and also last year’s Comm Games) have all been won by a country beating the team which had defeated them earlier in the group stage.

My excuse is a poorly selected mid court. A out of for Ekenasio, Jury being played at WD.

So very happy for the Diamonds. After the loss against the Roses I thought it was a very possibility that New Zealand and Australia would be playing for the bronze. I don’t think that day is too far off given how close the top four teams have become.
I don’t doubt losing Nweke had a massive impact on the Ferns attack end. I know it’s team sport etc but some positions and players are just pivotal and you just can’t replace Grace. The Diamonds had time to adjust to the idea of no Bueta but if she went down during a tournament it would be a very different story.
Feel for Geva. I hope she is very happy with how she played in her 6th World Cup what an unbelievable achievement.

                  Congratulations to the Diamonds.

I’m still so disappointed in the ferns. Well disappointed in Noeline. In her post match interviews she never once questioned the game plan, it was always down to personal errors. Don’t you have to ask the question, if they had played a different game plan those errors may have been cut down. The attack always seemed to be bunched in one area of the court.

Players looked like robots, trying their hardest to stay in the “structures’.

It mind boggles me that we didn’t see a Ekenasio/Selby-Rickit combo in the games that mattered. It was very obvious that Noeline has favourites and Wilson is one of them. She shot well, but didn’t go to post from long range and was hard to find.

Where can we find team and player stats? Eg: top scorer, most intercepts etc.

There are stats here, but they’re not up to date, They haven’t changed them since before the last few days…

                      https://www.netballpass.com/statistics

Personally, I wouldn’t trust the individual stats. There were some problems with their accuracy in the early games in particular. I’m currently working out team stats and will post them when finished.

Jhaniele Fowler was leading scorer with 302 from 310 at 97%!

Very little time for netball this last week, sigh, life gets in the way.

Lots to think about and comment on but it’s all over now.

My parting thought: England lost the Cup in the hours after their win over Australia in the pool game. When the coach (labelling the Australians as a group of star individuals, but not as strong a team as England) and players (Helen Housby saying England were fitter and stronger) come out saying things like that it’s either hubris or trash talking (and they are scared). They underestimated the Diamonds AND gave the Diamonds extra incentive. The Diamonds showed who was fitter and smarter; I’ve never seen the Diamonds play so patiently (through the entire tournament) working the ball to the goal and that takes fitness and teamwork.

You would never see an Australian player or coach saying stuff like this about the opposition. Well, maybe in Norma’s day you would  , but not now. Why give the opposition any extra incentive?

I don’t believe our NZ players need to go to the SSN. Nweke was the key for us, and she got injured.
Had this happened to IVD 20yrs ago, we wouldn’t have won that WC.

I’ve just realised, with all the teams DNT has coached, she’s always had a target shooter. IVD Magic, JFR Steel and CBass Lightning. From memory none of them ever went down with injury.

She had to change her game plan for 2019 WC, where she went for that moving shooting circle. I really thought she may have tried the same with TPSR/Ekenasio.
