      Full time: Malawi 62 v Fiji 48

Malawi led by 13 at half time and it was almost game over. Fiji fought back in what was a scrappy second half, but the damage was done. Mwai Kumwenda starred with 24/27, 8 assists and 4 gains. For Fiji, Kelera Nawai-Caucau had 6 gains.

Strongest performance from the Ferns yet imo. So happy with both Wilson’s and Metuarau’s performances

@enozlas I do agree re Toeava. I still think they had the best connection, and Toeava delivers good, safe ball to Nweke.

In this instance (if Toeava was in the team), I would have told Toeava “you’re injured too” 😂 I do see these two as a package, either both play or none at all 🤷‍♂️

Feel bad for Grace, I wonder if this will ruin the ferns shot at a podium finish. Will this help SA make the semis?

Can’t wait for the Uganda v Jamaican game, I have a feeling they’ll give Jamaica a run for their money and finish with a smaller margin then what SA did.

Maybe this just shows that you don’t pick one player just because another player is on the team. I mean, I was one who thought Toeava should have been picked because of her connection with Nweke, but here we are and as TB said, her selection would have been a bit of a waste with this happening.

Before Nweke came along, Wilson was the next big thing that was going to dominate for years. Maybe she still can do that here.

I loved watching Wilson play, but I do feel once Nweke hit the scene she lost all of her magic. Let’s hope she gains her phenomenal form again.

Wonder if Noels has got what she wanted out of Jury at WD. Personally it’s not doing anything for me.

First of all, I’m so sad for Grace. Luckily she is still very young so she’ll have many more chances to go for gold.

I echo the sentiments here that this really does reinforce how wise Taurua was to bring Gordon. Especially now that Metuarau is in.

Wilson dominated the Covid CC series but then she started to become so much more inconsistent. Seemed to get a few mental demons as well when Nweke took over. I think she’s a big danger for the Diamonds but I think England and Jamaica will be breathing a sigh of relief. I wonder if we’ll see a bit more of TPSR or Ekenasio at GS.

Oh man super gutting for Leni and the Proteas, clearly she put everything out on the line last night to try get one huge victory for the home team. Played so well the first half too.

It’s going to be a v nerve wracking rest of the tournament for England fans who only had 3 shooters to begin with  Has there been any word on Imogen Allison’s shoulder injury yet?

                                  1/4 time:

                                  Jamaica 15 v Uganda 12
(This is a cracking game – Uganda giving it everything and challenging Jamaica)

                                  Singapore 19 v Sri Lanka 10
(Great first Q from Singapore – not a single turnover compared to 6 from Sri Lanka)
