Toeava would have to be with Nweke would she not!!??
Listening to the Mavs podcast- sounds like Cardwell intends to play in all the England series this year.
While Heffernan’s shooting wasn’t consistent, her follow-through on the shot non-existent and her defence questionable, I admired her speed and front cuts. Give her a season with a dominant GS, and I think she’ll be good enough.
Both Housby and Cardwell are not in the SSN finals, why would they not play in the NZ v England series, it’s not like they will need a rest. What are they going to do instead, sit on a beach and drink Red Bull.
I don’t think we will see any roses from the SSN. They never come to NZ.
Agree about G Heffernan. She just frustrates the heck out of me. She looks so lack lustre and apathetic when she throws the ball away, which she does quite a lot. 30 more turnovers than the next closest GA this season and as someone mentioned a 76% shooting average which is by far the worst in the competition. I never would have thought she would have got picked for the Ferns and yet she did, and when she did she played well! She is a head scratcher for sure.
I know Steel have already put an offer out to a good GS and WA/C so hopefully they can get them. I feel if they could get someone with genuine height down in the defensive circle it would make a world of difference for the Steel.
Any insight into new coaches Nesian?
If Ekenasio plays SSN next year, I hope the Magic are recruiting hard for Williams and Faulkner to return to the BOP.
@mcleod, hush! They’ll both be working hard on their conditioners, sorry i mean conditioning.
In recent years I noticed that if there are tests in Aus & NZ the SSN players only play the Aus leg.
Fisher and Glasgow would probably be expected to lead this attack but I think we’ll see Tchine, Berri and Pearson. Would like to see Thacker but I think she’s injured.

I hope NZ have included in their contact with England that they have to bring a certain number of caps this time. Last series against England was boring to watch even with England winning the first test.
Not sure where to put this, but I’ll pop it here.
The netty show has said that they believe the firebirds coach will come down to Anna Mayes (Stembridge) or Kiri Wills.
To add to this – Inside Netball said Kiri isn’t the ferns assistant coach.@thunder123 No, Steel have had quite a few applications, but the criteria they put for the job was quite high so it will be interesting to see who gets it. I know a ex fern has put her name forward for both south island positions.
@silverferns1 I know Eke is trying to get a SSN gig, but I’m not sure Faulkner or Williams are the answer.- This reply was modified 6 months, 3 weeks ago by Nesian.
Didn’t Salmon have connections with Magic before? I wonder if they could lure her there? A Salmon/Tui combination could really work.
