I think that’s where the influence of Metuarau is missed. She was very ‘straight’ with Walmsley and likely delivered a bit of tough love – I suspect because Metuarau was the resident drama queen ????

I’m glad I didn’t travel down for that game… just bizarre. Felt like a club or nnl game

            Junior errors from both teams.

On the positive, I like how all teams have adapted with the short pass rule.

An incredibly low scoring error-riddled top of the table clash in NZ with Pulse coming out on top of Tactix 36-30! Tactix gave up 31 general play turnovers and Pulse 27.

So now, Pulse sits alone at the top, undefeated after 5 rounds.

Where was the razzle dazzle netball I was expecting?
Overall quite concerning if this is the standard we are presenting as the two unbeatable teams.

In this game, Pulse’s Kelly Jackson (Jury) finished with an incredible 12 possession gains, the same number as the entire Tactix team. That included 7 intercepts. She was also the only player who got on court and didn’t give up a turnover!

Never really thought the Pulse were going to lose that game. Delaney Hoshek always does the most bizarre subs, like taking Selby Ricket off etc. Khiarna Williams should be the starting GA for the Pulse. The other GA runs around too much. Good for Walmsley to come up against some tough defence like Watson. I have to admit though she did carry the Pulse through to that win. I don’t really like her at GA, a GS that tall should always be under the post getting lobs.

Not sure why Poi doesn’t make the Ferns squad. She definitely couldn’t be omitted based on Taurua’s fitness criteria.

Bizarre how Jackson didn’t get player of the match with all those intercepts.

Agree with others, not a very good show case of nz’s two top of the table teams. Far too many turnovers.

Yeah that was a tough watch. I think Tactix must be coached very poorly to be so inconsistent with the calibre of players they have and stability of their roster the past few years. Agree that Poi should get a Ferns re-call.

I’m not sure if Williams is fit enough to run out at GA at the moment, plus seems to be nursing a knee injury. Definitely has buckets of potential though. Jackson is having another brilliant season.

Yes agree was a difficult game to watch at times.

Both teams have in-circle defenders that work intuitively together while there was a lot of 1-on-1 midcourt defence. Combined with a lack of dynamic attacking play (using ball speed), this created some messy passages through the court. I also think Jackson is the perfect defender for Bird – Bird’s height encourages high lobs but Bird’s (relative) lack of elevation made for some easy pickings for Jackson. Also, both teams are missing their best attacking shooters. I normally love defensive games but this wasn’t one of them.

The poor soul who compiled the Pulse/Tactix highlights reel lol…

Is Kersten the temporary replacement or are the Pulse buying themselves time?

I do wonder how Taurua plans to combat the ‘gap’ between ANZp and internationals standards. Also taking into consideration the injuries around some SF.

The Pulse coach was on Netball Zone last week and said it was week-to-week with Kersten. She has a job in the Bay of Plenty I believe.

I’d far prefer they invested in Parris Petera (who had some court time with Tactix last year) and elevated someone from the NNL to the match day 10.

Could also push Ioane into C with Iongi at WD.

Strange that Pedersen can’t play full games at WA, I’m sure they would prefer Poi at C more.
                                Wonder when Dunn will return

I assume @mcleod given the success of the Sinclair move to C in the Mystics game, it was seen as a get out of jail free card by MDH. Sinclair was OK but a couple of the floaty feeds got snaffled by Jackson and Mason. I actually thought the introduction of Jess Allan was going to have a positive effect but lots of running around and not much to show from it. Dunn’s movement along the baseline was sorely missed.

For the Pulse, given Pelasio only plays for a quarter and is really a third feeder, unsure why Souness doesn’t wear the GA bib for the first 15, Petera plays WA, Ioane at C and Iongi at WD. Williams was a great calming influence when she came on IMO.
