Although Poi did pretty good at WA, got deflections.
I’m sure against Steel next game, Tactix will prob get a extra 25-30 goals.Being one of Poi’s critics on here I believe she has done enough to be called up for the Ferns again. The current SF midcourt doesn’t have it, I’m definitely not a fan of MRB. This season I’ve been watching the ability of the current crop of SF midcourt to provide consistency and when their team begins to fall short leadership, and its just not happening.
That game yesterday was messy – was it because it was a hugely defensive game or were the players pressured into panicked passing.
The International season is going to be interesting with a number of the Ferns short on ANZ Premiership time, and fitness.I find it odd that Jane is not Tactix captain, she used to be.
Mystics front line of Earle, Toeava, Vui in particular and Glen are poetry in motion to start against the Stars. Very similar to last week against the Pulse. Can they maintain it? They lead the Stars 8-3 after six minutes.
Not too sure who Stythe is defending? A few long balls put in, cause she was so high up in the court.
Wilson was dominating at GS. Now at GA with Samason (finally on) at GS. She did miss her first shot.
All male commentating, all male umpiring. Imagine the uproar if it was the other way round in Rugby.
Do we think Taurua is watching at home thinking, hmmm Toeava can feed a moving circle..
Mystics run out 56-51 winners over the Stars.
Fantastic effort from their shooters Glen and Vui, both in the 90s with a cameo from Binks too. Toeava controlled the whole attacking end beautifully.
Burley very commendable in her losing side.
I agree, I hope DNT is watching Toeava.
However Toeava has to keep her end of the bargain, which is to keep (or get) fitness up!
I really hope to see her back in the Ferns.Mystics come away with the win 56-51. Filda Vui came off with an injury towards the end. It didn’t look overly serious. We hope not anyway. POTM was Kate Burley who was terrific for the Stars with 6 intercepts. Phoenix Karaka also great in defence for Mystics.
Wondering if Vui cramped up in the calf when she went down and didn’t get up because she wasn’t sure what she’d done ie calf injury. It was a bit bizarre because she didn’t call time. Hannah Glen has done well coming in as Nwekes replacement.
Yes Toeava did well, but her how do it put it, unwillingness to move quick and try and defend, when the ball is turned over in the Mystics attacking 3rd/circle, is what doesn’t impress Noel’s, she isn’t the only one that fails to do extra work on defence, George Heffernan is the same if not worse, Metuarau as well.
Peta is also 30yrs old, so come WC 2027 she will be 33 and half.
That was really a must win game for the Stars as they won’t be able to touch the Mystics once Nweke is back.
A good quality game though, and Burley continues to impress. Toeava combined well with the shooters, and Vui proves she can shoot. She should aim for 20 goals a game rather than mostly feeding Nweke.
Sythe is still very green – it took Masson a couple of seasons to shine so expect the same from her. If new defenders want to take their game to Ferns level, they should go to the Pulse to work under Wai.
