The three most senior players for the Stars – Wilson, MRB and Burley – all being made to look very ordinary..
Pulse leading Stars 49-38 at 3/4 time.
Stars are very average, definitely missing Crampton and Temu. Not sure how fit their attacking line looks and lack height in defence. I hope Magic continue to improve so they can push Pulse/Mystics/Tactix.
Full time: Pulse 58-52
The Pulse have extended their undefeated march with an impressive 58-52 win over Stars in Wellington.

I thought the Stars might capitalize on the inexperienced Pulse attack end. However, Salmon had an exceptional debut and plays GA/GS fluidly.
Souness is my in-form WA. MRB was gutsy on attack and defense.
Hats off to the Pulses recruitment team. 3 Starting players are out with injuries and they remain undefeated. You cannot tell me any other team in the ANZ would be able to remain undefeated let alone survive with 3 of their starting players out. Martina Salmon was exceptional in her Pulse debut and was strong in both GS & GA. Pulse has the potential to have a very tall shooting circle with Salmon and Walmsley potentially combining.
It would be so good if the top 12 players from the steel and stars could combine to form one team (ignoring the geographical issues with doing so). Would make the competition so much more interesting
@silverferns1 – totally agree with the above comment. Whatever central are doing to bring players through is clearly working and perhaps other franchises should take a good look and see what needs to be done to do the same.
Does anyone else notice MRB’s awkward no-look passes? They look very forced and unnatural.
Wow what a win by the pulse. I wouldn’t have picked it. I would have left Salmon on the whole game. Never seen her before. Where has she been playing? She looks better and more athletic than some of the established shooters in the league. Very confident. She definitely must be playing basketball as well, looking at her movement and strong takes of the ball. Well done.
Some of the Stars losing streak must be put down to Will’s coaching. She has been there many years and seems to come up short every year. She would have the pick of players being based in Auckland.
I actually liked how AAT rotated her three shooters throughout that game. She realises she’s down to the bare bones and needs all of them ready to go if (dare I say it), further injury strikes.
Early days but AAT looks like she has the goods to become/is an amazing coach.
Bird won’t be under so much pressure this match. Steel improving but Tactix should take the win.
Agree @Baller and Jenny Woods mentioned in commentary Vicki Wilson said she was fantastic to deal with. I loved how after the first quarter she complemented both Souness and Ioane for bringing their shooters into the game and looking after them then told Ioane she was staying at C a little longer haha.
A solid 53-44 win for Tactix over Steel.
