I would love for Australia to do a internal test match with two teams made up of current diamonds and up and comers just to keep the netball coming and blood some netballers
Could have
Lucy Austin
Sophie Dwyer
Georgie horjus
Hannah Mundy
JlP
RBD
ErvinVs
Garbin
Dwan
Watson
Williams
Parmenter
Jenner
Bruce/KlauWould be cool to see and be a fun little friendly match if they made it a tradition
This fast five Aussie team really has shown the potential depth that is being under-utilised
My player of the tournament would have been McLean from Jamaica. She was such a pest in defence and just kept going and going, even on a losing team. And she didn’t give away too many penalties.
Otherwise, I thought Salmon played really well and deserved the votes she got as she made a real difference when she was on court.
Hard to go past Salmon and L. Austin as players of the tournament.
Interestingly for Australia, I don’t think they would have gone as well without TOS (and she was a replacement player for Ellis), and who would have covered GD had Sligar not replaced Walters? Williams probably, but would not have been as effective.
The reserve players really proved their worth!
Walters has played plenty of GD. And GA. Could cover many positions.
@benmac4 they used to do a President 12 series back in the late 90s, early 2000s. The P12 team was the Aus B side, who would play a best of 5 (or 3) series against the Diamonds before they would take off on tour. They were great to watch. Wish they still did them now.
NZ would do the same too, although I can’t remember if it was ever televised?
I do remember when NZ did a Star Series (I think that’s what it was called?). It comprised of 4 teams, 1 being the English national team. And then a north, south and central team all having SFs, squad members and under 21 players.- This reply was modified 1 month ago by TB.
A lot of talk here in Australia about this. The Aus men’s team’s dance has been shown on Tv and online and a lot of idiots have been carrying on about it. The comments under the post about it were pretty awful. And it all comes from ignorance. Most of the people commenting have no idea that ALL teams do a dance. And I think one of the networks labelled it as the Australians doing their version of the haka, which is just plain dumb. This is all quite ridiculous.

That is really sad to read, and probably sours thr whole thing for them a bit. I thought they were brilliant, them and the two nz teams all had amazing routines – the others are slowly getting more into it each year.
I hate how social media has allowed people to sit (fairly anonymously) in front of their screens and dish vile abuse out like they’re not actually talking about real people, with real feelings. I’m angry for them over this.
Far out there are some vile POS around.
Australia's male netballers performed a dance, which resulted in online nastiness. We did not have that on our list of expected sports stories for 2024. So, ABC Sport Daily asks: what happened?
