Sorry, not sure.
Proscovia Peace Ugandan assistant Coach!
Does anyone know where this will be available to watch in Aus?
Available to watch on Kayo sports
Wallam has some very heavy right calf (knee?) strapping. Will be interesting to see how much court time she gets, hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Ferns are on their way https://home.nzcity.co.nz/news/article.aspx?id=391210&cat=996&fm=newsarticle+-+Sports%2cnur
the link doesnt say much but Taurua not sure if she’s staying on, is interested in seeing how she and Akle work together and that the squad travelling is the nod to the squad through to the next WC.My instinct tells me Ekenasio is not sticking around much longer.
I wonder if Akle is being looked at as next SF coach.Honestly I think Akle would make an amazing international coach, how many years does she have left at swifts?
I don’t think Stacey will be leaving anytime soon so why not take it?
Maryann, if you’re right about Ekenasio, that makes it even more bizarre that they’re not taking another shooter!
Grace Nweke and Amelia Walmsley have just 32 test caps between them.
Amorangi Malesala is the only recognised GA and coach Dame Noeline Taurua knows they are going into #netball #NationsCup very light on experience.https://t.co/a9tP61jAc2— Bridget Tunnicliffe (@bridgettunni) January 14, 2024
@Ian – who would they take as well though? TPSR unavailable and I saw that she had said no more internationals (not sure how true). Metuarau and Wilson not up to fitness. Saviour Tui (don’t think she’d make the fitness either at this stage) and a newbie to this level. They’ve got Georgia Heffernan with them – will be surprised if she doesnt get a run despite whats being said.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.Without seeing the combination in action, I can’t help but think Walmsley and Nweke together would be messy and they’d be in each other’s space?
Assume Taurua will think long term she can meld Amelia into a Koenan-like predominantly GS/GA switch-up option.
Malesala should be fine. Good court craft like Metuarau but more willing to put up the long shots.
Despite what Taurua has said surely Georgia Heffernan will be on the bench for the tests to make 12??
I’m really interested to see what the defensive end looks like for the Roses. I’d predict that Thirlby will start Williams at GK and Fadoju at GD but I really don’t think that that defensive circle will work well, especially against the Ferns, who have tall targets holding at the back. I’d start Adio at GK and Fadoju at GD to get that pulse connection going, and have Williams come on at GD as an impact player. She was fantastic as an impact player at the NWC so I don’t see why she can’t start on the bench and come back on later.
As for the WA position… it continues to haunt the Roses. I doubt Metcalf is going through to the next cycle but who would then start at WA for us? Whilst Joseph is steady I feel like she lacks the natural flair a WA has, and she is also imo always teetering with held balls, and she is also around her 30s. I would have preferred to have Scholes in the squad but I think she’s only in the England A squad? I can see her being England’s next WA, and frankly, aside from her, we have few options left. Thirlby doesn’t seem to rate McDonald for some reason so the one most likely to carry the Roses forward should be Scholes.
