Interesting times for Vixens. They look most intimating with Ellis on. Mannix – Ellis as a combination wins most ball. Weston shuts players out of games and frustrates them ready for ball winners to take advantage. Eddy is close to be being back. Lambden going very well, certainly putting herself forward for a contract next season. Plenty of options.

        I’m really looking forward to
Tbirds vs Vixens next week. Should be a fantastic game.

          1/4 time: Giants 21-18

What an exciting 1st Q! The lead changed hands a few times. In the end, Giants edged in front thanks to 5 super shots. Ash Ervin has capitalised on some Giants errors with 5 gains!

          Gains: LIG 6-4
          Penalties: GIA 18-6
          Turnovers: GIA 5-4

Is Bruce being managed due to injury or is Ervin’s red hot form keeping her on the bench? Lightning has too many great defenders. Surely a few clubs will be after Ervin.

5 intercepts in 24 minutes is incredible, even if the passes aren’t great. Ervin is already one of my favourites to watch!

Bruce can only play 30 minutes today, but she won’t get to if Ervin keeps this up!

What a disaster of a quarter. If I was JFitz I would straight on the phone to Ervin as soon as the season is over.

                    1/2 time: Lightning 41-33

Lightning stepped it up a notch or two in the 2nd Q, and Giants struggled to match them. The score for the quarter was 23-12. Lightning threatening to run away with this.

                    Gains: LIG 11-4
                    Penalties: GIA 32-22
                    Turnovers: GIA 11-7

                      3/4 time: Lightning 57-50

Giants fighting hard. They won that Q, only by 1, but they’ve certainly given themselves a chance in this last quarter.

                      Gains: LIG 15-6
                      Penalties: GIA 54-33
                      Turnovers: GIA 13-10

You can just sense that Lightning are feeling the pressure. They haven’t been the best in tight finishes this year. Tara Hinchliffe comes on for Ervin with Bruce moving to GK. Lightning leads 63-58 halfway through the last Q.

Putting on Batcheldor with less than 4 minutes to go is just so much pressure on a young player’s shoulders. Lightning really need to work on SS strategy.

                            Full time: Lightning 71-66

A vital win for Lightning which confirms their spot in the top 4 for now. They had some nervy moments in that last Q, but Steph Fretwell took it upon herself to shoot two pointers under pressure and seal the win. Liz Watson was POTM.

I can’t believe that the Giants won every quarter bar one. Good quality game and now we have our top 4. I feel like it’s going to be a TBirds v Vixens final.

The amount of injuries this season is really showing the amount of talent there is

You have the lightning defensive end all three players very worthy of a starting position

You have eddy manix lambden Weston and Ellis all worthy of starting positions in vixens defence end

You have Sinclair jok Glasgow and Caldwell all worthy of starting Ga or Gs positions

Lots of tough decisions you’d have to imagine some of these players will look at where they can find more minutes/ a starting position if they are benched when players return from injuries

There will be few spots open next year. Loads of multi year contracts. I also suspect performing players will want to stay where they are thriving, Fraser is a cautionary tale in that respect.
