      SWIFTS WIN BY 1!

      What a finish!

        Full time: Swifts 72-71

Don’t tell these players there was nothing riding on that game. The Swifts players are over the moon and the Giants distraught. Helen Housby had probably her best game for the year and is POTM. Surely Uneeq Palavi showed she belongs.

So, it all comes down to this. If Thunderbirds win, they finish top. If they lose, they drop down to third. Either way, they’ll be hosting a game next week, but will it be the major or minor semi? Lightning can be the spoiler. They’ve never lost in Adelaide.

Thunderbirds wearing retro uniforms similar to those they wore during the Commonwealth Bank trophy.

Oh, that didn’t look great. Lauren Frew has hobbled off after 10 minutes, having landed awkwardly on Romelda’s foot. Luckily, they’ve been training for this situation all year and Georgie Horjus moves into GA. THU 12-10.

I didn’t think I would mind who won out of Swifts and Giants but actually really disappointed for Giants. What an exciting game from the bottom two teams. Palavi was great. Hope she is offered a contract next year.

                  1/4 time: THU 18-15

There is little between these two teams statistically, but once again, Latanya Wilson doing a good job on Liz Watson so far. Georgie Horjus has just stepped from WA to GA as if it’s nothing.

                  Gains: 2-2
                  Penalties: LIG 18-17
                  Turnovers: 2-2

Well, this is something. Lightning taking it right up to Thunderbirds and it’s 21-21!

This same fixture last year Lightning got a win over the Tbirds. So far today I could see it happening again, especially with Frew going off.

                        1/2 time: THU 35-29

Koenen appeared to hurt her arm late in the 2nd Q and she was replaced by Charlie Bell. With that change has come 7 straight goals for Tbirds in a match that was going goal for goal.

                        Gains: THU 5-3
                        Penalties: LIG 37-35
                        Turnovers: LIG 6-5

I wish Fretwell would chase the ball if she or someone else makes a mistake. It was a bad pass but she just watched it roll away. Not super captainly.

Koenen is back on with her arm strapped up in the third Q. Thunderbirds getting really warmed up now and leading by 10!

Can anyone stop Horjus? Love watching Aiken George thrive.

                                3/4 time: THU 51-45

Just when it looked like Thunderbirds were putting the game beyond doubt, up stepped Steph Fretwell with 4 super shots and breathed new life into the game! Tbirds still favoured though.

This game has to get Horjus into the squad for at least one series- she’s killing it against a defence made up of a current Diamond, former Diamond, and Diamonds squad member!
