1/2 time: Firebirds 36-32
Giants fought back in that second quarter as unlike the first, their shooters were able to nail five super shots (to Firebirds’ two). The home side not looking as polished in that Q, committing 6 turnovers, 4 of them by Wallam.
Giants’ time out. Firebirds have once again stretched the lead out to 8 as we enter the super shot period. Firebirds 46-38
Firebirds hang on to a lead of 7 going into the last Q despite Giants landing another 3 super shots in that Q. Lara Dunkley is having an absolute ripper of a game for the home side. Firebirds 51-44
Why wouldnβt you give Obrian a go?
Incredible piece of play from the Firebirds to keep the ball in play, but it comes to nothing as Jodi-Ann Ward wins possession for Giants. The lead is only 5 as we approach super shot time. Giants still right in this.
2 minutes left. Firebirds trying to use up as much of the clock as they can to deny Harten & Dwyer. They lead 63-60 with possession.
Full time: Firebirds 65-62
Great composure in the last few minutes. Firebirds were the better team for the majority of the match, but the Giants’ dangerous 2 point shooting meant they were always a chance. In the end it was 11 super shots to 3 for Giants.
It might be a long season for the Giants. I wonder when Hay will be back. The Firebirds are looking good so far.
Really wish Garrett would jump when she defends..
After a frantic opening quarter, Vixens lead 14-11. Defences on top so far with possession changing hands frequently.
Georgie Horjus moves to GA for the 2nd Q. Meanwhile, Shamera’s got the Vixens’ attackers spooked. She’s everywhere. Vixens 16-14.
Thunderbirds have hit the front. They lead this second Q 13-6 as the attack end for the Vixens starts to struggle. By contrast, the move of Horjus to GA has been a winner.
Lucy Austin needs to set herself up for the super shot. Otherwise thereβs really no point of her being out there!
