Vision from the change rooms of Sam Wallace-Joseph with an ice pack on the side of her head after copping a knock in that Q.
Just took a couple misfeeds by Mundy and Swifts capitalise with supershots to bring back the score to even at 3/4 time.
Housby doesnt have two bad games in a row – 9/10 super shots at 3QT.
3/4 time: 47-47
At least we think that’s the score. There’s confusion with the Champion Data site at the moment. Please let there be no repeat of last night. Helen Housby has landed 9/10 from 2 point range! Meanwhile, Grace Whyte came on for her debut that Q!
A classic Jo Weston pest game, with some clean gains to go with it.
Didnt expect to see Swifts with a losing record after five rounds.
Full time: Vixens 61-59
Great game. Vixens survive a scare from Swifts who came back at them strongly every time they appeared to have things under control. In that 4th Q, Swifts were 2/6 from super shot range when they really needed them. Kiera Austin POTM.
Swifts really missed Maddy Proud, and Wallace-Joseph a bit in the second half. Still think they look a bit laboured and off the pace in defence this season. Wouldn’t count them out of making a strong push in the second half of the season though.
The split between Fever/Vixens/T’Birds and the rest of the teams is a bit of a worry.
Bring on Fever v T’Birds next week.
Has anything been said about when Walters may be back? Vixens really missed her today. Could have been a straight swap with Mundy or allow them to push Moloney to WD.
Vixens defence really capitalised on Proud’s absence and were outstanding. Mannix is have such a good season and I’ve never seen Garbin look so fit. Swifts had their chance to take the game but couldn’t convert turn overs and missed important shots. I was impressed with Whyte (sorry if I’ve missed spelt her name) so not all doom and gloom for the Swifts.
Let’s hope Proud is not out for too long – the Swifts attack end really struggled without her. Though I was impressed by Whyte, with hindsight I wish she was put on earlier as she really opened up the attack end. Fawns has really grown into such a beautiful player – a good shot and showing a calm head when needed.
Anybody going to mention Rudi Ellis in WD? That was a surprise!!
Vixens didn’t have much of a choice. Eddy had a knock to her leg and picked up an injury. So it was Weston or Ellis. Had Walters been there it would have been Moloney that went to WD. But Ellis (and Weston and Coffey) train there so I suppose it’s all sort of Vixens injury contingencies.
