This sport just can’t get out of its own way right now.
This is unacceptable, Not anywhere near close to good enough.
This is a shambles.
Lightning, with all their experienced leaders have just left the court… not sure about the sportsmanship in that one given the clear issues at play.
I will say, things like this do happen all the time in the AFL. I don’t know if that makes it any better, but we’re not alone in this flavour of incompetence. I love netball, and it needs to be better.
If someone gets injured, if forced to play, the league could be really up for it.
Okay so now Fox are saying Lightning think they’ve won. But Giants have been told it’s a draw?
Surely the officials can communicate the same message to both teams asap.
This is embarrassing. We really don’t know what is going on. Seemingly, 71-71 WAS the correct score. But what happens now?
By the way, this year marks 30 years since the farcical scoring bungle of the Mobil League grand final. And this is eerily similar.
Surely too much time has passed now to get the players to play for extra time. Players have cooled down and risk injury if they come back.
Fox is saying umpires are being re-mics and coming back.
Incompetence in other sports has no bearing on incompetence in netball in my view.
Just keep the score correctly. At this level it has to be the absolute bar minimum requirement. Especially as we’ve recently gone through a similar incident in this very same league.
I feel for both teams. What an embarrassment for netball.
I don’t know how you’d deal with this as an athlete. I feel for all of them and the staff at both clubs.
Are Lightning coming out or not?
Cath was very surprised in the final 30 when Lightning weren’t trying to score. If they knew they weren’t actually up by one I’m sure they would have played that moment differently.
