They just did a replay of the last contact, at first I wasn’t sure but to me it looks like quite a clear shove from Austin. Do agree the calls weren’t exactly consistent, and it felt like a loooong three seconds!
I was probably less annoyed about that one (put it down to Austin’s inexperience and needing to learn to exert her physical influence less obviously – we all know they do it!) than the Romelda one earlier in the quarter. Just a few odd interpretations.
Jamaica are scary surely it’s a matter of when not if they will win a World Cup or Comm Games.
Agree StatsNerd21 that the replay showed that Austin did contact Dehaney.
I wonder if any other teams with get within striking distance of Fever this season? I think the Tbirds defence is the only one who will be up for it for the majority of a game, maybe Swifts at full strength. I’m not confident Vixens can go with them particularly if they’re undermanned.
If Vixens are without Eddy and Walters I don’t think they can beat the Fever. I do like Dan Ryan as a coach. I thought was treated badly by the Tbirds so glad to see him back dominating.
A great game. Just like a final. Fever dug deep and remain unbeaten, but we learned today that they are certainly beatable, and Thunderbirds have just the team that could do it.
Why are Gaudion and Bassett saying Kadie-Anne’s surname is DeGaney?
They’re making a pun- she gets a lot of gains so she’s De-Gain-Ey.
Started overusing it just a bit…Thanks StatsNerd
You’re right….Doesn’t work in the middle of a sentence without the emphasis on Gain…When Bassett used it, it was during the post game show..no ironic emphasis, sounded like a misname, …like HinchCliffe…
When Fever announced Delaney (and Beckford for that matter) I was skeptical…I was wrong. Definitely think we are training the Jamaicans to beat us at the next Comms Game/World Cup but it’s great to get to watch them every week. Well done Kadie-Anne!!
Was Dan Ryan dropped from the tbirds for his poor record when he coached them ?
Yes- a record of 1-27 will do that to you. There wasn’t really much to be done with that squad though, so many injuries and not great performances on court.
So glad he killed it in the UK and is back and having success! (Does help that I’m a Fever fan though lol)
I want to applaud Lucy Austin for having the guts to go for the 2 point shot to win rather than the 1 to draw. It speaks to her confidence which seemed to be waning in some prior matches.
