Matisse Letherbarrow and Erin O’Brien are on for Giants.
But unfortunately, it’s all falling apart for them. Swifts lead 59-43 as Julie Fitzgerald calls a time out.
Giants really need to turn their focus to the rebuild. It’s not a coincidence that their young players like Sligar and Letherbarrow come on and have an impact.
Full time: Swifts 76-52
A layup by Sophie Fawns in the final second to finish off a commanding win. Sadly, Giants had 30 turnovers. That won’t get you a win! Unsurprisingly, Paige Hadley is the POTM. The Swifts team doing a lap acknowledging this great crowd.
I was at the game and Maddy Proud was noticeably limping. I can’t see her coming back for a while.
I noticed Proud limping too. Gorman Brown did a lot better today than last week, so hopefully she can keep up that effort.
Seemed a bit odd that Roselee Jencke was in the Firebirds changing room at half time doing all the talking. I get that Brown is a new coach but doesn’t instil much confidence in her ability. Surely Jencke could just focus on the defenders or let Brown know her insights so she still takes the lead.
I’m impressed how Neville seems to have elevated the games of Jok, Nankivell and Jovic in attack. Seem to have a clearer game plan than when Jok/Jovic were at Collingwood and Nankivell is showing a bit of consistency. Having Cardwell must give them a lot of confidence too.
Still not getting enough ball in defence though, Firebirds led 14-7 in gains.

I found that a bit odd too @Guyza
Though during the 2nd qtr the camera zoomed to Jencke, and the commentator (can’t remember which one) did say something along the lines of “I’m sure she’ll have a lot to say to the players during the break” I found that comment odd. Fast forward to the half time break, and she looks like she’s the head coach.
I thought Brown did well from what I saw in the timeouts. Tbh I found her spills in those moments more inspiring and direct than Bec Bulleys.I thought I heard someone refer to Jenke as “stand-in defensive coach”. Which kind of makes sense, presumably Bulley is defensive coach (as well as head coach).
