Everyone seems to forgotten about Jess Anstiss. A quality midcourter who I feel should be in the Diamonds squad.
I don’t think people have forgotten about Anstiss. More that she’s not rumoured to be leaving Fever.
I spoke to one of my friends (his sister plays in the SSN. Wouldn’t tell me who was going where but told me players are still receiving offers from other clubs and teams haven’t unofficially signed players. It’s still all talk.
This makes me laugh, I recall last year this forum went mad about all the player movements, only to be totally underwhelming movements…is this year going to be any different??
I guess that’s what forums are for aye?
I love speculating etc it’s all part of the whole off-season thing. But I find on this forum (as opposed to social media gossip) people have some great insight.Hope Liz Watson stays with the Vixens and all these rumours are false!
Indicative offers are definitely being drafted and signed everywhere. They basically confirm once able an offer will provided on the basis of X and the player agrees that if they receive an offer based on X they will accept it. Of course there are out clauses for bath parties. That is business. All business in all fields and sports.
Most clubs have 5-7 players set as priority under such agreements and then about that many wait-listed. Wait listed players will get second round offers depending on where players sign etc.
Some players know exactly where they are going. Others are talking to 2-3 clubs. Eg, We may have a spot for you, we need to know what X is doing, if they don’t accept you are our 2nd / 3rd choice etc.

Maybe I will try and explain this another way. Most clubs know who they want most of their 10 to be. They might have say 9 or 10 indicative offers out. But most only have 5-7 agreed in full by both parties. The remainder they are still negotiating or waiting to hear on.
That’s how players get waitlisted for second round offers. It’s what happened to Kelsey Browne when she went to Lightning, Vixens said we will have a spot for you if Madi goes to Pies but Lightning gave her a first round offer which she took. Miller was a wait listed signing when she first went to Lightning.
Would be an extremely stressful position to be in.
Players like Bruce, Cardwell, Wallam etc can’t play for 2-3 teams so once they officially sign / in form a club (like Fraser and Glasgow have) then the clubs can go down their list of targets.
Any club that isn’t doing this is effectively asking for the wooden spoon as it would put them so far behind the recruitment eight ball.
Just read shimona Nelson’s story on code sports and it really shocked me
How has shimona only received interest from firebirds
Surely if Caldwell is leaving Adelaide will look for a reliable GS
Too many seasons watching the best defensive side in the league be let down by an inexperienced attack end
Dwan is consistently improving and becoming a deadly GA but probably still needs a strong gs to support
Austin is clearly going to be a starting GS in the next couple seasons but I don’t know if she’s ready for it yet
I felt that Nelson was an obvious choice for selection over Aiken George for World Cup now she may miss out on ssn
Am I missing something this is baffling
The Nelson article is well written and heartbreaking. Nelson was so open and honest.
The only comfort is that she has the support of her fiancé and is not alone.
Easy for me to say as Im not living it like Nelson but I have much more hope for her than she can see right now. I get her perspective completely as it would be hard to see when you have no firm offers. I’m confident that Nelson will get a second round offer. The delay in TPA and CPA is causing so much anxiety for players like Nelson. Had it been sorted contracts would be signed and clubs would be going into second round offers already providing Nelson and others some direction. Actually I’m pretty sure there was an article with Moloney around the WC and she said it was exactly players like this that she felt for.
Hey guys. While we’re waiting for something to actually happen regarding 2024, why not have a say in our poll for SSN player and team of the year for 2023…
There are also polls for ANZP and the World Cup going on right now as well. Have a go! :good:
Courtney Bruce has officially advised Fever she won’t be returning. Lightning here she comes…
So we can move on with this 1 now, I’m guessing Parmenter will be the next statement to come forward
I’m confused. The Courtney Bruce leaving Fever thing has been around so long that I thought it was already official. When I saw that yesterday, I thought it was old news, but nope…
