I took Kelsey Brownes post more as nobody wanted her, than her wanting to retire. Fever now have two very strong WA options.
Ian, are you able to put these signings into Team Lists? I really have not much idea who is in TBirds next year. The silence from them (email and Facebook-wise) is deafening.
I’m sure I saw the team list for the Tbirds on Facebook somewhere
Shooters: Romelda A G, Lucy Austin and Lauren Frew
Midcourt: Tayla Williams, Hannah Petty, Laura Scherian and Georgie Horjus
Defence: Sterling, Garrett and Wilson
Nyah Allen is playing for Garville in South Australia’s Premier League
Really sad not to see Nyah get a contract with a SSN team, can anyone confirm if the 11th player was in the new agreement?
RSI, we will update and put all the team lists together when everything becomes official. Nobody has officially signed yet and Thunderbirds wouldn’t be able to announce anything until that happens.
Until then, this is what the Tbirds look like according to all the talk…
Romelda Aiken-George
Lucy Austin
Lauren Frew
Georgie Horjus
Laura Scherian
Tayla Williams
Hannah Petty
Latanya Wilson
Matilda Garrett
Shamera SterlingYeah, I think teams are able to nominate an 11th player. Will be interesting to see what happens with that.
I can only assume that Lauren Frew is there as backup to Horjus?
If Horjus stays at WA, there is going to be 2 strong middies sitting the bench a lot. Wilson will no doubt be first choice WD, so all defenders will occupy all 3 positions. My starting 7 would be: RAG Horjus Scherian Williams Wilson Garrett Sterling
They’ll have great options coming off the bench. Petty could start at C or WD, I am a fan of hers and she brings good leadership. But I do feel Williams is their best option for C. Austin would be great for the super shot, though she could easily push herself to start.
There is an 11th player spot and it is effectively an upgraded TP. They get a 6 month contract at 50% minimum salary so $22k. Game day squads remain at 10 but they are eligible for selection in that 10 each week unlike other TPs who can only be selected to cover injury or illness. There are some eligibility criteria for the spot such as being Australian, under 26 and have only played a minimum number of games (about 5). They want the spot to be used for development purposes.

TPs can be signed from January 8th.
Why not now? Then they can start training…. Every team knows who are they taking as TPs already anyway.

Will be interesting to see the comparison of their crowds to Magpies’ crowds.
