Grr these are pathway spots. They are to assist the development of young players whilst the likes of ANL are rebuilt.
Ruth Aryang, Emily Nadrew, Tyler Orr, yes but Jok? Is she making herself unavailable for Jamaica and committed to Diamonds?
No wonder Charlie Bell is off to NZ.
It’s either less than 5 games OR less than 26 years old- Jok is 25 still.
Really not happy with this decision- Montana Holmes is such a great up and comer, would have loved to see her or any other pathway player.

Charlie Bell has gone to NZ as a replacement player for Dunn at the Tactix.
Charlie B crosses the ditch!
We are so excited to announce that Charlie has received a Temporary Replacement Player contract with the Trident Homes Tactix.

— Sunshine Coast Lightning (@sc_lightning) April 11, 2024Really poor form Mavs! I don’t see how they can claim Jok meets the 11th player criteria. I think Mavs are going to be the team to dislike with the way they are recruiting. Replacing Collingwood with an equally unpalatable product.
From SSN new 2024 rules
“Eligibility is down to three criteria. The first two must be met, while the third requires one of two options.
1. Must be contracted for 2024 as a
Nominated Athlete
2. Must be eligible to represent Australia in accordance with World Netball
Regulations
3. Must be aged 26 or younger OR has not taken to the court in more than five SSN and/or ANZ Championship matches”Well technically Jok fills the criteria that has been set out… this is a professional league and the team has chosen the best player for them that meets above criteria. Maybe the criteria should have been altered?
Maybe Jok has aspirations to be a Diamond. Players migrate and find new homes. I don’t think it’s out of question.
I honestly don’t see why everyone is so unhappy with the Mavs decision re Jok. She meets the eligibility criteria and as a foundation team that has lost two of their contracted 10 before the season starts, the Mavs are doing what is best for them. I understand that the spot could have gone to a young up-and-coming Australian talent, however without this 11th player rule (which hasn’t been in place previously) there wouldn’t have been an opportunity like this anyway. When the eligibility criteria was put into place I’m sure there were discussions had about possible outcomes of who could become the 11th player for certain teams, and they obviously decided on the criteria as they are (and they are very clear).
Being left out of the WC team has ended up with one positive for her anyway. I think the 26-year cut-off is too high, but that’s the rule as it is, so she qualifies.
Ok fair enough. I wasn’t aware Jok is now an Australian citizen. I’m still not keen on Mavs picking her as the 11th player. The intent of the 11th player was for players who had little previous opportunity. The eligibility criteria now look a bit silly.
Netball powerhouse tipped for glory but don’t write off the Vixens: Experts’ crystal ball predictions
Have Fox cancelled the Centre Circle round preview show?
It looks like it. Not good. It was an hour the first year, then cut back to 30 mins, now gone.
That 4th Qtr podcast thing has a round 1 preview show though I see.
