This sounds absolutely horrible. The fact they called the game off makes it seem even more traumatising.
I’m no expert and obviously it would be great if she didn’t do an ACL, but would a break of the leg be better than that? At a first glance it sounds even worse, even career ending?
Wishing her all the best, she’s really had terrible luck throughout her career with injury. Every time she gets on a run or looks to be making big moves in her career she has had a terrible turn of events.
The Mavs will really need to gather after all this. Hopefully there’s a miracle and she’ll somehow be able to play this season. They’re in a fortunate position that Nelson is floating around, but still a terrible thing for the team to go through at the beginning of their journey.
Thats what I thought too when they said “lower leg”
First of all, thoughts are with Glasgow and hope she is doing okay.
al_ex I would think it ultimately depends on the break. A clean break would certainly have a better prognosis than a compound fracture which can be complicated recoveries. Also depends on what is broken, with all the lower leg references would seem it would be unlikely to be a knee cap. So fingers crossed it isn’t one of those.
Sasha’s injury was awful. Her screams and the cracking noise 🙁 Looked like a double break of both fib and tib. Here’s hoping she’s in good care and can make a full recovery.

Does anyone know of any other netball players who have rehabbed a lower leg fracture and what Glasgow’s recovery time might be? A quick google says it could be 3-6 months but it’s difficult to apply that to elite sport. Really hoping she’ll be able to play in some capacity this season, even if it’s just the internationals at the end of the year.
I only know if stress fractured which are different. There are too many variables, type of fracture, position of fracture, pinned, rods, exterior bracing needing and other damaged associated with it. Such a shame, no one wants to see an athlete injured.
Very unfortunate for Sasha, hard to say re: recovery time without knowing exact fracture type and surgery undertaken. If it was a tib/fib as suggested it can be in excess of 6months. A girl in our local comp did hers and was out for 8 months.
I’m currently rehabbing a complex finger fracture and nearly 4 months on still not allowed to touch a ball so not necessarily a quicker recovery than a ligament injury (such as acl).Hopefully her recovery is without complication and we see her back fit and well.

Is there a limit on how many TPs teams can sign? Just wondering why Chelsea Blackman might have missed out this year – has been a Tbirds training partner for years
I think Sophie Casey will take the rookie spot. I think Nyah and Tyler might have played too many SSN games to qualify?
Not sure if there’s a limit, but I think a few teams have chosen 5, so perhaps that’s it?
Just reading these comments have made me shudder, I hate to think what poor Sasha is going through. With her history of injuries I don’t think she’ll player this season. She’ll need time to recover mentally as well as physically.
Wishing her well
I just read on code that Glasgow did in fact break her tibia and fibula.
There was an interesting comment in the article saying that NA has reminded clubs about their match day medical obligations. But nothi g further do not sure what is implied?
Mavs want to give Glasgow every opportunity to play this season.
