How the @melbmavericks players and staff handled the fallout of Sasha Glasgow's serious leg injury on the weekend.

Such a bizarre Netball injury, and a very long wait for a Ambulance, I hope it’s not a career ending injury.
Although it was a long wait for the ambos (45 mins or so), Sasha was constantly attended by first responders (medical staff from both teams) who were also in phone contact with the emergency services.
She (thankfully) had pain relief (green whistle) and as far as I could see was as comfortable as was possible in the circumstances.
It was a freak accident, I think we all hope she has a total recovery as quickly as possible.By the way I have seen juniors with serious injuries (eg dislocated knee) with just a sports trainer & their parents assisting wait longer at the same venue in the past.
Whose going to be the vixens and mavericks replacement players?
Seeing as Shimona Nelson is a Mavericks TP, does she have to play for Mavericks? Or can she opt to jump ship and go Vixens?
Is there any ruling on that? During the pandemic years they could be used for other teams, although I think that was just for filling-in (I think).Clubs can contract TPs from other clubs into contracted roles (ie permanent replacement players); Ala Bell and Ervin at Lightning last year (they were FB TPs before Lightning gave them contracts).
But Vixens won’t go for Jok.
Word is Andrew will be the PRP for Kumwenda with Lily Graham getting the 11th / rookie spot that Andrew was originally slated for. Graham has a gorgeous shot. Both are great prospects. But they are both going (as well as Barkmeyer) to NZ this weekend then they have games in Ballarat so probably won’t finalise till later as there is no rush if they aren’t bringing someone in. Barkmeyer has played too many games to be the rookie and Vixens re really turning her into a WA (backup to GA) anyway as opposed to a pure goaler.
As for Mavs I read quotes today they aren’t ruling Glasgow out for the season yet. They have limited information on her recovery and want to give her every chance even if limited to play so sounds more like they will go down the TRO route initially. You’d imagine Jok would get it over Palavi but it means Cardwell playing g a lot of GA.
I think Glasgow may comeback midway through the season. An nba player Kevin ware fractured his tibia, you can see it on YouTube if you’re game enough and returned to play in a couple of months.
My only concern for Glasgow is her confidence, from memory she didn’t return well when she came back to the birds, then again they didn’t really give her a chance since they had Georgie.New-look combos were on display as Julie Fitzgerald tested the depth of her squad in the first pre-season hit-out on Wednesday ⤵️

Palavi would have been a great pickup for Vixens. A strong option at GS and good back up for GA. In saying that I don’t know how good Andrew’s is.
Really have to feel for Glasgow. Even if she manages to come back for some of the season, the potential of Cardwell/Nelson combination is huge. That could possibly be one of the strongest combinations in the league.
Do teams (Giants and Mavericks) have to drop their replacement players once the injured player is ready to go? What if they are on a winning streak with the RP?
I’m more so interested on what Giants will do with Pitman. As Hay seems to be back into training. Pitman might get 4-6 games in before Hay is ready. But what if they’re on winning streak with Pitman? If Hay comes back then Pitman will have to be taken out. But when TPRs are doing a good job teams don’t tend to rush back the player they’ve replaced, especially if it isn’t a star player or a leader in the team. If the Giants are winning with Pitman, I’m sure they’ll bring back Hay later in the season or there might even be another midcourter who picks up a ‘niggle’.
I’m curious who the Giants will go with as their starting 7. I’m expecting Harten/Dwyer/Pitman/Price/Winders/Ward/O’Brien, but wouldn’t be surprised to see McDonell get good court time or even a Winders/Price/Sliger midcourt. I’d like to see Price in WA, I think she could be very strong there. Hopefully Letherbarrow keeps getting court time, it would be a shame to see her riding the pine.
I’m curious to know what Hartens role will be this season. Will she be mentoring on the side line or in the starting 7?
I honestly can’t see her holding her starting bib if she has a repeat of last season.I think it’ll come down to injuries for Harten. She plays a massive part in their attack with her smarts. If she can stay injury free for the season, that will help Giants a lot.
With regards to Harten, I think that if the Giants provide her with a specialised training programme, like Stars in NZ did for Anna Harrison in her final season, then she potentially could be a starting 7 player.
