Full time: Giants 36-34
Another thriller as Giants hold on and pick up their first win. Nyah Allen had the chance to snatch a draw at the death, but missed, and that sees Vixens go through to the final on percentage. Quite something after their first game.
Vixens playing the final. I’m screaming after that start.
Now Simone when Weston comes back leave the midcourt and rotate Weston, Eddy and Mannix. Thank you.

GK DehaneyFull time: Firebirds 44-43
Another crazy finish. Firebirds somehow manage to hold on and win by just 1 over Fever after a contentious call at the death. So far, 7 of the 11 games played have been decided by 2 goals or less.
The last of our group games coming up. If Swifts win, they go into tomorrow’s final.

GK LewisWow Firebirds. Here we all are wondering what they are doing and boom, maybe Bulley has a master plan after all!
But Fever hmmm they started their preseason games well but have really fallen off. Way too reliant on Fowler on tonight. I think they are really missing Simmonds in that midcourt (and Bruce and Glasgow obviously). Dehaney really hasn’t gone on from where she was in 2021 as I thought she might.
So as it stands Mavs are the only team without a win….
Mavs should try Fraser in C with Sinclair at WA. C is a weakness for them. Cardwell looks to have to do more work in GA than she did at TBirds.
Full time: Swifts 44-41
Swifts are into the final against Vixens after another terrific game which again came down to the final seconds. Once again, Mavericks were right in it all of the way. This is actually the biggest margin in any of their games!

GK LewisHi everyone, I’ve been at the courts most of the weekend, it’s exciting and exhausting keeping track of everyone!
I think the number one thing on my mind is injury cover and load management. For example, Giants have Maddy Hay out and replaced by a historically impressive wildcard/super-sub player (Pitman) who is now about 35 years old, and Harten I doubt can play out a season at 100% EVERY game, so Leatherbarrow or Singleton really need to be an option.
Meanwhile, so many selection dilemmas – you’ll have seen at home how good Streutka is, but she’s a training partner as such, what are Mavs going to do with shooting, given Cardwell will always be on the court but people are definitely going to target her? And are they going to have a settled midcourt, which has been patchy this weekend. And the defence dilemma, no one player has really coped against tall shooters, even Lewis.
What are Fever going to do about that defence end? My feeling is that Williams will gradually fit in a bit better, but Delaney hasn’t impressed me at all, I really want her to be getting more possession than the odd rebound.
At this moment, and trust me I know it’s VEERRRY early days, Swifts are looking the best – they’re the most consistent and they do the basics – Klau wins possession! Turner and Smith confuse space! Hadley and Proud deliver! Wallace opens, shoots and gets it in! And Housby shows that X factor and ridiculous grit! Everyone does their job! Also Fawns has really stepped it up and the other main bench players look good, too.
