Now’s the time to really test the plan B – both Austin and Proud would normally be considered critical players, but both of them had flat first quarters with errors. Given we now have rolling subs, expect them to reappear.
Both these teams are excellent in the midcourt defence congesting the top of the circle.
Klau was best for Swifts in Q1, and either Mundy or Walters for Vixens.
EDIT yes Tully, at the moment I like Walters more than I like Mundy, so Mundy as the bench and impact player.

Not really seeing why Vixens recruited Ellis. Head down and flat footed. Plus only plays one position and she isn’t the best in the team at that position.
Knowing Simone I’d expect the midcourt to shuffle back for Weston. While I agree that Walters is great and deserves to be on court, Eddy is in better form than I’ve seen in a while, and I can’t see Simone running a Weston/Eddy circle (no matter how awesome it might be).
Off topic, but Ward looks in for a MASSIVE season.
Vixens are missing Weston. They could move Eddy to WD and Moloney to C but without Weston Eddy needs to stay at GD.
Mundy’s feeds are a little off. Actually Mundy has been good this weekend but not as good as I had expected. They’ve switched Mundy and Walters now.
Lily Graham is 18. Zara Walters is 20. Mundy is a veteran at 23. Exciting times ahead.
I thought Andrew would get the rookie spot at Vixens. Now I think they should go with Coffey so they can take her over Ellis in the 10.
1/2 time: Swifts 25-22
The Housby-Wallace combo starred in that quarter for swifts putting on 12/12 including 2 super shots. More changes now for the third quarter.
I’m so glad I’m sitting next to some very knowledgeable Swifts fans, up until now they’ve been calmly debating and analysing alongside me, and now they’re literally standing up when there’s a supershot and screaming so hard their voices will be gone for a week.
Taking Proud off was effective, the first quarter wasn’t a DISASTER, but having LGB instead (Lily Gorman-Brown) didn’t so much slow them down as remove passes made on assumptions (2% too much pace). Sometimes Maddy overdoes it. They reduced their turnovers from 6 to 2 in those quarters, and improved their CP conversion from 50% to 91%.

I’m loving Walters showing everyone how good she is. To think some were saying Vixens should have taken Cransberg over her.
Dear Simone, Zara to start in round 1. Thank you.
I agree with commentary. Walters is better at WA than Mundy. Mundy’s drives are too long in WA whereas Walters shirt change of direction opens the court.
Why was Graham taken off? Austin isn’t having a great day. Sure Graham had some mistakes but she is 18 and so raw, there was plenty of great stuff.
Yes great intercept from TOS but why was Austin throwing that pass? Really hasn’t been a great day thus far for Kip
I should say that about Austin more often, think she just nailed 3 super shots in a row (out of 4, credit to Garbin for great rebound). Perhaps the bad pass revved her up
The third quarter is close again, O’Shannassy at GK for Swifts has taking two perfect intercepts by sprinting far outside the circle – oh look and Mannix has done that now, too. Austin with three turnovers and two intercepted passes, but at the same time 3/4 supershots, whaddya gonna do??
“It’s a brilliant spectacle, worthy of a final” to quote everyone’s fave commentator, Annie Sergeant hahaha. But seriously, Vixens just nudging ahead 35-34 using a supershot, 10 mins to go, great intensity from all players along with the composure required.
Both teams with their best sevens on oh wait where’s Wallace? Maybe a break before the last five mins.
3/4 time: Vixens 35-34
3 super shots from Kiera Austin, including one right on the buzzer, have propelled Vixens to a one goal lead at the last break. Looks like another thriller coming up, which is only appropriate giving how this tournament has gone.
Graham on at GS against Klau. Great experience for her.
One rebound to Hadley there.
I think Hadley is the better option than Proud in both positions, but at this moment having her at WA is the right call. Oh what, Graham is at GS for Vixens, why on earth would you do that?
EDIT just as I typed that, Austin threw a silly bounce pass right into the three foot guard of Proud. Yet it’s 38-37 to Swifts.
