Hi all,
I am contemplating on building fully fledged netball fantasy game next year as a passion project. I am not asking for payment and will be covering all running costs purely out of my own pocket. This would be free to play and we could use the NS branding and add potential sponsor ads if needed (such as adding logos on field?). Would anyone be interested?
I don’t know much about netball but I am keen on learning more about it. I am an avid AFL fan (I play both AFL Fantasy & Supercoach) and know the ins and outs of how fantasy game play mechanics and scoring works. I assume a netball fantasy game would be very similar.
I’m asking this question now because it will take time to build out the game as I will be doing all the development by myself. Of course I will be working with the mods for input on rules, game play and pricing mechanics.
A little bit about myself: I am a software developer with years of experience in the sport fan engagement industry and I am currently working with Australia’s biggest sporting leagues (AFL,NRL,Cricket Au etc.).
Let me know if anyone would be interested, I’m keen on building a fantasy game π
Here’s a preview of what some draft work I’ve done:
Cheers,
BrightsideI’ve been running a fantasy netball game on here for over a decade. I’m just about to start it up for this year tomorrow. Would love it if you join in and then you can learn more about it as you go.
My game is run along the same sort of lines as Supercoach, but I have to do it manually and with spreadsheets. It’s rather time-consuming, so a few years ago, we looked at getting a professional-type game up and running and the cost was huge. I would LOVE a game that looked like that and did some of the work for me, but I know nothing about programming or building games. Yours looks great.
Literally logging in during a TGC match to find out whatβs happening with fantasy this year (as I secretly pick my team). Iβm in as always π
Hi all, thanks for the replies!
I will be joining this year’s fantasy game that Ian runs to get a feeling of how the game works.I can’t provide timelines on milestones at the moment as I’m just in the beginning of setting everything up and it also depends on how busy I get at work.
The game I will be building will be CMS driven and won’t be relying on data feeds. Access to data feeds will cost tens of thousands of dollars and scraping data from various websites is unreliable and is not legal. This means that the admin (Ian), will have access to a dashboard where he can control the game (input scores, lock matches, lift lockout etc).
I will be working on the platform throughout the year and will be posting question and updates here.
If you have any questions or inputs, feel free to reply on this thread π
