@Tully – sorry I think I am wrong. I better keep quiet on here for a bit (I’ve been travelling and only picked up bits and pieces of info from various media so I think its gotten to me).

Seeing the quality of TRPs and 11 players is hopefully really going to show how needed more teams are in this league

Is it going to be another long year for Giants??

Scoring end or the introduction of Hope White?
I’m only following on Champion Data so no insights of the game play…

Hope White has definitely added a much needed spark – and it’s sent ripples throughout the whole team. Firebirds started with a bang but the ‘newness’ of the combo’s is starting to show a little (just my opinion)

I think the difference for the Giants was definitely Hope White. She wasn’t sitting behind her player like Hay was. I agree, the Firebirds were able to exploit a bit of the unknown in the first quarter (and too many silly mistakes in the second).

                        1/2 time: FIR 32-31

Playing in her first game, Hope White made an immediate impact when she came on, allowing Giants to take the lead, before Firebirds settled late. Firebirds shooting % is a worry, just 70% compared to Giants 85%.

Is it surprising that Dwan not started? I haven’t really been following them, but her and Veve not starting, is that a surprise?

Unfortunately, Sophie Dwyer has taken an accidental knock to the back of the head and has had to leave the court to be assessed. Jo Harten is on for her.

I missed the first quarter but Giants have looked good since I tuned in. Suffering a bit from the height mismatch though; created plenty of defensive pressure but couldn’t quite get their hands to as many rebounds or intercepts as they maybe deserved.

Firebirs have struggled in recent seasons at maintaining a full 60 minute performance so it will be interesting to see if that’s different today.

Disappointing that Dwyer is off. She was looking really good. Hopefully she doesn’t have a concussion or injury.

Feel like dwan cops a bit off negativity from the commentators

Felt like she played well that quarter

Thankfully, Dwyer is okay. She came back on to finish the third quarter. Macy Gardner is having a standout game at centre for Firebirds as they stretch their lead. It’s a topsy turvy game. The team going to right of screen has won each Q.
