I love seeing MJ back playing.
Have to wonder if Wilkinson is fully fit- lots of strapping on her thigh, Dan asking if she’s ok to keep playing, and Fever bringing Sloan Burton (shooting TP) to Queensland. Not an excuse for Fever’s performance obviously, but interesting to think about.
3/4 time: FIR 54-39
A more even quarter with Firebirds just edging it thanks to a super shot on the buzzer. It’s noticeable that no matter how well Firebirds are playing, coach Kiri Wills is making regular changes from quarter to quarter.
I thought MJ played well so not quite sure why she’s off- I suppose Fever are preparing this combination for when Jhaniele comes back. Absolute chaos in attack and not quite enough impact in defence. Firebirds are performing super well though, credit to them- looking slick and well-connected, and the feeds to Cholhok are stellar.
Omg Kerryn he called her ‘the former Mystics coach’ AGAIN. (And finally got corrected).
This male commentator has called the firebirds fever a couple times now
“Time for fever to put the foot down” whilst firebirds have possession and are leading
And
“Fever going to go for the ones as we heard in that timeout” as cholhok is shooting a 1 point shot just after Kirk’s timeout
He also has incorrectly referenced Kirk coaching magic
It is slightly cringy lol
Full time: FIR 67-54
The 2nd half was drawn as Fever lifted, but Firebirds had the game well in hand after the first half. Emily Moore had a fine game. Jordan Cransberg and Ruth Aryang played well for Fever in their time on court.
Gotta feel for the Mavericks defenders. Lewis would be lethal if she was just 5cm taller.
1/4 time: SWI 18-12
A strong first quarter for Swifts. While the game was even elsewhere, Swifts are on top in the shooting circles. Mavs no real answer to Nweke.
It’s so weird to see Swifts play like a top form Fever usually do feeding JFN. Helen Housby taking a supporting role that barely shoots is crazy for me. Still taking time to get used to.
1/2 time: SWI 34-30
A great quarter for Mavs. After looking in danger of being blown away midway through the Q, they fought back strongly. Tayla Fraser having a terrific game at WA. Paige Hadley doing her best to steer Swifts round the court.
Mavs are really taking it right up to Swifts here. Scores are level nearing the end of the third Q!
3/4 time: SWI 51-48
Mavericks hit the lead and were up 48-46 before a couple of Helen Housby super shots helped Swifts regain an element of control. But Mavs are right in this with 15 minutes left. It’s a cracking game. Shimona Jok has 45/45!
Time out in the last quarter. Swifts up by 4. Mavs are giving it everything, but the home side just doing enough at the moment.
