Well it looks like Simone sorted them
Giants look reluctant to pass to Hope.
1/2 time: VIX 31-24
Vixens woke up well and truly in the second Q, winning it by a commanding 20-9. Kate Moloney is running the show; 9 assists, 3 pickups, and zero turnovers.
What’s wrong with Dwyer this season? Her radar is broken.
Good quarter for the Giants but the Vixens are probably the steadier of the two.
3/4 time: VIX 45-42
It’s a close one. Giants are back within 3 thanks largely to 3 super shots in that Q from Matisse Letherbarrow. But is there a “scoring end”. The end that Vixens are going to in the last Q has scored 53 goals to 34 so far.
I feel like Ellis should look at a move to Mavericks next year. They need her height and I’m not sure she’ll get consistent court time at Vixens if Mannix is going to come back
Time out with 6 minutes left. Vixens lead by 4. No doubt, Giants will be going for the super shot to try to peg back this lead. Can we see an upset?
Full time: VIX 61-55
Relief for Vixens after Giants gave them a real battle. In the end, the Vixens attack stood up after a poor first Q. Some good signs for Giants but they were heavily penalised, 80 in all, compared to 48 for Vixens.
Very unconvincing from Vixens. I like Weston-Eddy and I’d continue to play them but Vixens needed to change their defensive line far sooner. Weston created havoc at WD at the end and the change to Ellis gave Giants something else to think about.
Where is Garbin’s 2024 form?
Giants young guns are developing well and they are unlucky to not be 2-0.
I had Sophie fawns as a strong likelihood for a future diamond after the swifts won their last premiership she was phenomenal in power 5 time constantly taking the court to replace RAG
I wonder if she is contemplating a potential move, firebirds could definitely use a more confident GA option
Aussie goalers looking slightly worrying
Dwyer garbin and koenan all not performing at their best
Austin fawns dwan (fast 5 players) seeing limited court time
Horjus great as always and Batcheldor showing lots of good signs though
Giants would be 2-0 had they have recruited Donnell Wallam. She’s streaks ahead of Harten. Don’t get me wrong, Harten is a great player, but her body has let her down for a few years now & it’s costing her team.
Matisse, Dwyer and Wallam would have been much stronger options. Harten as assistant coach would have worked better.I agree 100% with everything you said TB. Harten has great game smarts and is obviously important to the team, but on the court is not the option any more. They looked more dynamic when Letherbarrow came on.
I know she got player of the match – but I was most disappointed by the performance of Housby over the weekend. There were times where she could have taken an easy shot but passed it off to Nweke instead (and a couple of those times the Mavs got a tip to the ball). I know she’s changing her role slightly, but she still needs to put up shots (which she clearly proved she’s great at!).
Anyone know what it is that limits ash Ervin’s court time again and again?
We saw Marinkovich have the opportunity to put eggs in a longer term Ellis basket or a longer term Ervin basket. Neither were quite ready but Marinkovich definitely made it clearer she wanted to lean towards Ellis and even gave her a debut….
Now we’re at a point where we see Ash once again topping her own team’s NNP (and really affecting the feed to the opposition’s shooters even more importantly) and she’s benched again.
I just feel like she need to be getting more court time and trusted more, hasn’t she proven herself?
I really don’t understand it. Unless there’s some niggly injury we don’t know about, she should be playing 60 minutes.
And Ellis had a good year, but I would have chosen Ervin over her in a second.
