I think Klau has been in good form so far this season. I the swifts are wracking up the penalties this game because they are under pressure across the court. Paigey playing a great captains game.
It’s almost like the intimidation factor of the Tbirds is worth 3-5 goals each game before they even step on court.

Aiken looks in pain I hope she is ok.1/2 time: THU 33-29
A dominant first Q from the Tbirds and it looked ominous from Swifts, but they turned it all around in the 2nd Q. Paige Hadley having a strong game for Swifts.
Sterling-Humphrey had the better of Nweke in Q1 but it was the reverse in Q2.
Absolutely loving watching the Tbirds get around Romelda. It is a massive achievement all the more sweet considering how poorly the firebirds treated her.
What a game! So happy for my Swifties. Not sure what happened to Sterling it was like she never got out of first gear – obviously not 100%.
Teigan had a magnificent game as did Hadley but really they were great all over the court.Full time: SWI 65-57
What a result! That is T’birds’ first loss in Adelaide since 2023. Swifts totally neutralised all of Tbirds’ strengths in this game. Paige Hadley was outstanding, but the game changer was POTM Teigan O’Shannassy with 6 intercepts!
Thunderbirds last year lost to the Vixens round 2? Then beat them the next 3 times including the grand final.
Hoping it’s the same this year…but with swifts..
Looking forward to watching this game. I really thought the only way the Tbirds won’t get the 3peat, is if they got injuries. Looks like it’ll be an interesting season!
I think the Tbirds do have injuries. Aiken was clearly in pain today and Sterling is nursing something. The Tbirds need Aiken because Austin is not ready to be the main target yet.
Swifts needed that game more than the Tbirds to exercise the mental demons of 5 or 6 straight losses. The Tbirds probably needed a loss to keep them hungry and striving – once their guns are back to full health they will pick up where they left off.
There was not one passenger for the Swifts today. Sharni did a brilliant job on Georgie and Grace W played with calmness beyond her years. Hopefully this will give the Swifts the confidence to push on this season.Sterling has tendonitis. To me her form was reminiscent of other games in a few seasons where she has been very selective in when she attacked the ball. Today however her efforts, albeit few and far between, were not rewarded. Whether or not that is due to tendonitis I don’t know but if she doesn’t have freedom of movement she’s not going to be able to get up and over a shooter who is both taller and heavier built than her. Nweke is one player she hasn’t really ever played much against either.
Aiken George, I don’t think she has many games left in her. Her left knee appeared unstable.
Why is Austin not ready? She seems to have been around for years and touted as a future Diamond. How old is she?
Tbirds not on song today, my bet is they will enjoy the learnings from the game, and will be pleased that next week is a bye week for them.

I don’t think Austin is ready as I have yet to see her (apart from the last part of 2023) really come on a take a game on and really stamp her authority and dominance on the game. It seems like she has lost a bit of confidence. I think she is young so has plenty of time just needs consistent and regular court time.
Austin will never be ready if she doesn’t actually get any SSN court time. I think she needs a tall experienced GA to partner her.
What is Tbirds plan when SSH is off form?
Austin had the opportunity to shine at TGC. But she unfortunately choked in the GF, missing a couple of sitters. I think she even put the ball down for Horjus to take the penalty shot, which was right under the post.
There’s been plenty of opportunities for her, she just needs to stand up at those crucial moments. And the frustrating part is that we know she can do it. She did it back in 2023. -
