1/4 time: GIA 21-16
Definitely Giants’ best quarter for the season so far as they lead by 5 against the champions. Sophie Dwyer and Jamie-Lee Price leading the way. Quite a good first Q for Visser.
1/2 time: GIA 35-30
Giants maintain the 5-goal lead. The lead got out to 8 before Tbirds lifted. Both teams guilty of errors in a rather scrappy Q. Dwyer best on court so far. Visser continues with a good debut game, although she has been heavily penalised.
I would like to see Wilson go back to GK and Visser out to WD for the last quarter.
3/4 time: GIA 48-43
Another drawn quarter which means we’re headed into the final 15 minutes with Giants up by 5. Georgie Horjus came into her own in that Q while Hope White came on strong for Giants. Jamie-Lee Price controlling things in the centre.
Shamera may not be playing, but there are still 3 Jamaicans out on court and they’ve all had strong games! 🇯🇲
Time out with just over 5 minutes to go. Tbirds are challenging hard. Can Giants hold on. They lead 56-54. The front three of Aiken-George, Frew, and Horjus are combining well for Tbirds.
GIANTS WIN 64-63!!!
What a game. What an upset.
For once it was the Giants out in front and having to withstand a burst of super shots from the opposition. After being replaced at half time, POTM Jo Harten came back on and controlled the shooting circle.
That was a good game. Lauren Frew fired in 4 super shots in the last quarter that had the Giants nervous, but they held on.
It was a good debut also for Visser, 3 gains, 5 deflections, 3 pickups, although she was quite heavily penalised.
Think Tbirds could have used L Austin in the 10 today. Her height for rebounds and can shoot supershots
Mi Mi is making such a big difference to this Lightning attack end.
1/4 time: 19-19
What an incredible first Q. High quality netball. Fever scored with their first 16 centre passes so unsurprisingly, they led at that point, before the introduction of Courtney Bruce brought the Lightning team to life with 6 of the last 7 goals.
