Firebirds midcourt lineup is super interesting
do they go for Dunlkey Gardner and Veve and Allison come on as a rotation to bring Veve into C and bench either Gardner or Dunkley
or do they go for Gardner Allison Veve and Dunkley lead from the bench and come on for impact
or does Gardner spend more time on the bench (doubtful as she is potentially one of the key players of the future for the firebirds)
I think it’s basically the same as this year, except that a fit Allison is a big improvement on an injury-affected Ravaillion that they had this year.
Laura Scherian announces retirement, on her terms and with a 3rd trophy!
I think Thunderbirds will elevate their own Tyler Orr in replacement.
Laura Scherian has retired!
Had a feeling she might be done. Hopefully Orr comes into the side this year, she’s been waiting in the wings for a while. Although that would leave us a little WA light I suppose.
Orr is a C/WA and it looked like Williams was giving WA a go towards the end of the season so I think Tbirds would still be well covered in that position
Although Orr played some WA for Thunderbirds in the Team Girls Cup, I think she’s relatively new to the position as she’s mostly played C/WD in the Premier League (I may be wrong though) and her player profile seems to say the same. But yes with Williams having some more experience now in WA, could be fine.
Okay rumours are
Jackson to Firebirds that will give them 3 imports.Heffernan and Nweke to Swifts, must’ve dropped LGB (I feel she didn’t really get a chance)
I have a feeling they’ll drop Beckford and keep Browne. ATN 3rd shooter.
Heffernan to Swifts? That’s very surprising if it happens. I didn’t get the impression either Heffernan played very well this year, and it’s not like Australia is short of midcourters. I also don’t think Gorman-Brown did a bad job at all this year, she would be pretty hard done by to be let go.
Heffernan would be a great pick up by Swifts I think. She’s one of my favourites for Ferns. Great height and speed and relatively clean from memory which Swifts need in the defensive end. Plus a good defensive C option they don’t really have right now
Gorman-Brown would be really unlucky to miss out, she did well in Proud’s absence. Really rate her.
I don’t see Fever keeping Browne- I think they’ll go for a 2022-style lineup. Four shooters (including 2 WA/GA), four defenders (including 2 GD/WD), 2 true middies. I can see them going for Sinclair.
Only defensive problem is that Sunday is really the only defender that plays WD- maybe they’ll try to train up Ruth to be a true 3-position player.

I think LGB is a good replacement for either of them but not the right fit when you already have both Proud and Hadley. I think they’re all very similar. Maybe they’d pick her as their 11th?
WD is the problem area for Swifts, and I suppose they will gamble on being able to have either Proud and Hadley on the court (if not both) but have player that can cover C well if needed.
Smith doesn’t really provide that.
WD is a problem for swifts and if they pick up Heffernan she could move from WD to C as a change up for the mid court. Not really keen in having her join Swifts as there are good mid court players in Australia that are currently not getting court time.
Depending on whether any imports leave SSN we may have an increase in internationals/imports across the competition. Will be interesting so see if Fever keep Beckford and if RAG retires.
Speaking if the thunderbirds I’m certain they’ll elevate Orr, which will be a handy replacement for Scherian wa/c.
Rumours are saying they are trying to keep romelda for another season to go for the triple. Hopefully this gives enough time for Austin to build her game.
Far fetched rumour Wallam to vixens, though I think they’ll let Kumwenda return.
