Did anyone have a pleasant viewing experience with Kayo Freebies during the Quad series? I certainly didn’t – constantly “hanging”, skipping huge sections, having to restart/reload numerous times. To say frustrating was an understatement, I was ready to fling out the window each and every device I tried to watch on. Both Microsoft and Apple products, with the wireless NBN speed at a totally suitable speed for all our other streaming.
If this is how SSN is going to be available to non-Fox subscribers then I wont be watching much netball at all this year.
I had no issues at all, it was actually great to stream it in HD for once.
Not sure if it’s an option, but can you choose not to stream in HD and go for a lesser quality image but smoother stream?
May have been covered elsewhere but has Liz Ellis been axed (or should I say not offered or declined) a presenting role.
Real shame if so.
Liz is taking the year off from covering netball and going travelling with her family. As for next year, not sure.
Ahhh thanks Ian.
Always enjoyed her insight.
I feel the Australian coverage and presenters are a few steps above NZ.
Our coverage in particular feels like it hasn’t really moved on from NBC days ?
I kinda disagree with the Aussie presenters being ahead of the others, whilst I think all countries commentators leave a lot to be desired with bias calling and such (aka English commentators). I find Aussie commentators way over the top with their calling and basically shouting ( sue gordion especially or to a lesser degree Cox), yeah I get that they get excited with a big play or whatever but I seriously don’t want to listen to it constantly or that it’s better the listen with the sound turned down. It’s great to have ex player insight into games to, I find Dan great to listen too. Anyways just my opinion lol
Nate – If my husband is in the room when SSN is on I have to turn the sound off. He can’t deal with the squealing and yelling from the commentators so if I want to watch it then I have little choice. I quite enjoy the NZ style where every single movement doesn’t need commentary but I guess its each to their own and also what you are used to.
It will be interesting to see how Cath Cox goes. Apparently she’s going to be actually calling games now instead of just being an expert. She did tend to get a bit overexcited at times when in the expert’s chair.
Very fortunate to have access to Foxtel for this season so have to say I am SO EXCITED for what this could do for the sport. Having Foxtel for the ANZ champs was pivotal and the professionalism and exposure Foxtel will bring to the game is something I’m very very keen for.
