Where does the future of the ANZ Premiership lie?

To put an end to this discussion, DNT/Ferns have to start winning games. We are still ranked #2 in the world, we didn’t get there by accident.
Our recent results are pathetic. But we can turn this around.Wonder what the discussions would be if we won gold or silver at the next pinnacle events? We’d be the only country with no players in the SSN.
Even if we had won silver/gold at the world cup my opinion on the ANZ premiership would still be the same. I really dislike the three rounds it is too much of the same thing with only 6 teams. I have not paid to watch netball on sky for the ANZ for last two years. I rather pay to watch the SSN. I agree with a lot of the comments on the article. It is stale.
I agree with Kat. The comp has become quite stale and boring with the lack of imports, and seeing the same teams playing each other 3 times each season. Just 2 rounds is enough. I know 2 rounds would mean just 10 games + finals, but I can remember back to the days of the CCC/NBC when they played only 7 matches + finals! And that’s when NZ netball was really strong.
I think change will happen when Nweke leaves. Right now she is clearly the second best GS in the world, and by the end of next season I wouldn’t be surprised if she is the best. She’d be in a position to earn 3-4 times as much in Australia than in NZL, and I doubt she’ll be able to resist that allure much longer. NNZL would give her an exemption, because we’ve seen what the Ferns are like without her. After that more players will push to leave and the competition will have to be adapted.
I would be a fan of ANZP becoming two rounds and then two teams being put into SSN as mentioned in the article, but I doubt Sky would want that. I think realistically what will happen is the status quo will remain but NNZ will eventually start letting more players go over, or adapting their season in some way so players can play both competitions.
Players in NZ, may earn quite a bit less than the top few in the SSN, but they can get very good money from outside sponsorship.
And something to think about for the 2024 ANZ, how about the final rd (Rd 3), they play the 2 point shot, maybe for the whole 60min, and the 2 point zone be the same distance as fast 5.Agree I’ve got bored with the anz prem format of playing each other three times. I end up not even watching the bottom two teams games which last season were Steel and Magic. I also think introducing the two point shot would change the game. It was very obvious that the ssn shooters are used to shooting from long range and the nz shooters, outside of Ekenasio, are not. It would be good to see nz’s top players in the ssn but in saying that, that league sounds like an absolute shambles at the moment.
I think Taurua’s future hangs on tonight’s game, if they go down 1-3 that’s not a very good record. However NNZ seem to like Taurua so I doubt she will move on. What would she be on? I’d say it would be in the. $150k-200k range. NNZ need to settle on their coaching staff too. Why do they keep rotating anz coaches into it? If they do that they need to include McCausland Durie at a minimum. If she’s even interested.
