Shooting stats for Pulse vs Stars

      PULSE
      Walmsley: 45/51
      Metuarau: 8/9
      Williams: 10/12
      Pelasio: 5/7

      STARS
      Wilson: 30/35
      Malesala: 13/16
      Samason: 11/16

Walmsley very impressive for Pulse, big numbers in just 3qrts of play. The whole Pulse attack gave very few balls away.

I’m not a big fan of the 2 point shot, but certainly so far Tactix and Pulse used it well.
I’m wondering if Netball NZ will think about bringing it in for some part of this ANZ,
say for rounds 2 and 3. Because I think all teams would like it, except for the Mystics.

I’m with you on this comment @McLeod. Haven’t seen Metuarau play like this for quite a while and have been impressed with the range shooting which is where, imo, Silver Ferns are falling behind (plus other areas of course). Shooters need to be able to shoot from range at any time. Walmsley certainly stood up and said ‘look at me I’m more than just an under the post shooter’.
Also loving that the stupid short pass is gone because that has changed the circle play too.

And what was the point of the Firebirds playing, they were terrible.

Another strong outing by Jess Allan. She may snatch that starting GA bib and have TPSR and Dunn sharing GS by season’s end.

How can we watch these games in Australia?

I tried to access at the time but it wouldn’t show any video. Did you need a VPN?

Kimmy Rav was interviewed after the last Firebirds game and said the team still had lots to work on. Surely at this end of pre-season the works ons should be way less than ‘lots’. I wonder if she’s not going to get on court as soon as they expected and therefore the way the whole team plays is having to be sorted.

Northern Mystics have a new sponsor. With broadcasting revenue dropping it is going to be more important than ever that the franchises gather their own sponsorship. https://www.northernmystics.co.nz/news/tab-signs-three-year-deal-as-sponsor-of-the-mg-mystics/?fbclid=IwAR1ymXi4MMA9hAfzg97BX1msa8TItt-CruLLF9zRTsrX6pLX6hpNy-kfdCs

Olivia Dijkstra (former Firebirds TP) has joined what I assume is the Tactix feeder team, which also has Vika Koloto.
Looks like lots of young goalers have decided there’s less of a shooting ‘blockage’ in the NZ system- I’m not so sure about that! There’s definitely a search for strong GAs but holding GS spots (that would suit Samason and Dijkstra) are hard to come by!

@StatsNerd21 – Also I’ve noticed that while ‘imports’ have joined teams, moreso since covid, the likes of Pulse and Northern Stars tend to leave them on the benches. Even those who technically could play for NZ, but more those who are not eligible or unlikely to change.
