Not a fan of the 2 point shot as such. However I am a fan of netball adapting to increase the growth of both viewership and player development.
I wasn’t a fan either, now sitting on the fence, however it is undeniable that the International teams with shooters in SSN have seen growth in the numbers of available shooters willing (and able) to put the ball up from a distance. NZ is getting left behind here because the NZ shooters won’t do it on a nearly every attempt basis and follow through for rebounds.

The 2 point shot could easily be implemented into the 2024 season without any extra financial commitment from the NNZ.
Wow that’s an interesting discussion. I remember the bile being spewed when the two point shot was introduced in the SSN a few years ago. Now a couple of nz coaches are begging for it to be introduced.
What they need to do is make it a shot from OUTSIDE the circle so players other than shooters can make spectacular shots that may turn a game around. You know, like what you see in basketball :yahoo: Steph Curry like netball shooters could have a field day. Also why do they need 2 years to introduce such a thing? Do NNZ move at that glacial speed all the time? I hardly think this is sky nz’s fault. They would have been screaming ot for a more interesting, innovative product from NNZ. It’s clearly a few stalwart NNZ people stonewalling any meaningful change up in the game in Nz.
Just one other question, since we are discussing Taurua’s future, what is Wyllie’s salary? She’s been at the helm since netball start sliding in viewership in Nz. We have seen no innovation and netball under her administration and it is just dying a slow death by a thousand cuts here…
