Shooting stats from Magic vs Swifts
Wallace: 32/36 – 88%
Housby: 23/29 – 79%
Garbin: 11/14 – 79%
McPhee: 35/45 – 78%
Latu-Meafou: 19/25 – 76%
Sophie Craig (Halpin) played quite a bit of GD for the Swifts which was interesting to see. Haythornthwaite was a real standout for them, she’s in such great form at the moment. Magic shooters struggled with consistency but put some great passages together, Cable-Dixon and Sam Sinclair were solid throughout. Mikaere and Jen O’Sullivan always looked 2 steps behind, but Holly Fowler contested well all game, I hope we see Fowler at GD more often this year.

Looking at The Mystics Instagram stories, looks like Ellen Halpenny is with them, as well as Emily Burgess from Adelaide.NZChampionParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 1:38 amPost count: 459Ian HarkinModeratorFebruary 15, 2020 at 2:33 amPost count: 15861MaryannParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 4:20 amPost count: 956
Halpenny was definitely with the Mystics today and played part of the third 1/4.
I didn’t see the first half so not sure if Bassett played – she didn’t yesterday and clearly has an ankle injury.
It was only the fourth 1/4 that the Giants took control.Ian HarkinModeratorFebruary 15, 2020 at 4:59 amPost count: 15861
Bassett played the first half I think. Giants were behind at 1/4 time and just edged ahead in the 2nd Q.TACTIXSUPPORTERParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 7:32 amPost count: 455
Halpenny playing for Mystics?
Mes injury must be worse than first thought.TACTIXSUPPORTERParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 7:55 amPost count: 455
Emily Burgess must be coming in for MSB. Thought Elliot would come straight in….
Halpenny retired last year. Don’t understand why they want to bring her back. Surely other shooters in the zoneMoozParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 10:48 amPost count: 2
Minkie, can you give us an update on Bailey? I seriously hope it’s not her ACL again…JinxiboParticipantFebruary 15, 2020 at 2:33 pmPost count: 1146
Waylay, thanks for the stats for the magic v swifts game.
I thought ACD went missing for most of the 1st quarter and also at various points during the game. Kelsey was unbelievably rusty, 78% for her is awful. She was getting ball but just couldn’t sink it.
I agree with your comments about Mikaere and Jen O’Sullivan, I want Jen to step up but she’s had a few seasons now and hasn’t made that break through. I’m interested to see what Tong will bring, she lacks a bit of height for a keeper but could be another Jane Watson.
I’m worried about Marshall, I wasn’t impressed with her at the club championship thing and I’m surprized she didn’t play a full quarter.Ian HarkinModeratorFebruary 16, 2020 at 1:01 amPost count: 15861
Magic led at 1/2 time, but Giants won the 2nd half 42-22!
Too much class by @GIANTS_Netball in the final quarter, ran out deserved winners by 70-57. Terrific first half performance by Magic, with great signs for the ANZP, but a Giants team loaded with internationals just too strong in the end pic.twitter.com/TVfvAg7yAw
